The tension pulley is mounted onto a semi-flat mounting bracket that is, in turn, mounted at three points, using bolts that also hold the timing chain cover. You have to jack up the bottom of the motor for temporary support and pull the top engine mount in order to get it off. To replace the tension pulley, ensure that You have the proper kit to replace it and follow the steps below:
  1. Make sure You wedge the car after packing it in a garage where You want to remove and install this tension pulley,
  2. Remove the negative terminal on the battery and leave the car for about 15 minutes before working on the car,
  3. Remove passenger side wheel,
  4. Take off the plastic access panel that is low and to the right in the wheel well opening. It has several plastic screws,
  5. You can now see the tensioner pulley and lower belt. Use a 14mm socket on an extension and loosen the bolt on the pulley.
  6. Behind and under the pulley bracket is an adjuster bolt. Loosen that to be able to move the pulley upward and allowing for the belt to come loose and off. This is now a good time to change that lower drive belt. It will now flop right off the AC compressor, tensioner pulley, and crank pulley.
  7. Reassemble in reverse order.
  8. Remember to fix the negative terminal of the battery back on.

Where is the belt tensiner for the regulator on 97 geo prizm

do you alternator. i think the regulator is builtin. there is a bolt and a pulley somewere in the middle where the belt goes. if you put a wench on it ,it should move.

its a strut or shock please look into buying a strut for the side it sounds the worse hope this helps :)

My car will not start

why was the head gasket replaced?,whitch motor do you have,most likely answer is that the timing got messed up during the repair,,pretty sure that you have an interference engine,whitch means if the timing is off or the belt breaks when you try to start it the pistons hit the valves and bend them,if you have the dohc 3.0L. this will happen,check the timing marks and hydraulic belt tensioner,for proper range of tension,if it looks ok do a compression test to make sure you dont have valve damage,if that all checks out,check fuel pump pressure at the rail,and if your getting spark

Yes you adjust the belt tensin by adjusting the alternator. the one with the 14mm head is the pivot and the one with the 12mm head is the lock down bolt.

Hi. If it has the serpentine belt which I belive an 89 does, all you should have to do is put a wrench on the tensiner and push it backward, its spring loaded so you hold it back, slip the belt inplace and then release the tensioner. if the tensioner wont spring back then you may need a new one.

Cannot tighten the drive belt on my Fisher and Paykel DE04 electric dryer.

Remove the belt from the motor and pull it out of the tensioner. Put it back through the tensiner from the other side of the bracket. (If you put it in right to left, this time, put it in left to right ). The belt will seem very tight to try to get onto the motor but, it's supposed to.

on the side with blue black and white the go color for color to the motor wires.
the side with red and white:
red goes to hot in ceiling
white goes to neutral in ceiling.

I am changing my alternator and need to release the belt tensioner to remove?

if you need to release the belt. look at the front of you hood next to your raditor where all the stickers are. it should show you the diagram of the belt and it should show you where the tensiner is. you will need to release the tensiner to take the belt off. usually it is a pully about mid way down. you will either have to stick and 1/2 drive into it and pull it towrads you or use a crow bar to grap the bolt that sticks out. and pull on it that way. if you do not see a tensioner. than do this.

look at your alternator and see it should have 2 bolts holding it on. look and see if the is a slot where one of the bolts can slid back and forth. if so than all you need to do is loosen the bolt that does not slide but do not take it off. and than loosesn the bolt that slide. it will allow you alternator to move freely and release the belt. after that take the alternator off and install the new one. after that do not tighten the bolt the is able to slide as you will need this to move when putting the belt back on.
put the belt back on the use a crow bar to push the alternator away from you so it will tightn the belt. than have someone tighten the bolts back up and you should be good to go.

Bobbin thread bunching

I have a Singer 2950. The thread keeps getting bunched up on the reserve side of the fabric, and does not stitch. It is driving me crazy. I think I have the bobbin threaded correctly, as well as the machine. I have tried everything! Please help!
