Question about Dyson Vacuums

1 Answer

Dyson dc35 not charging

The battery charges only when it is unplugged from the main body. When (battery) connected with the main body, the charge doesn't light up and it won't turn on. Service tech has told me to change the main body. Looking for an alternative solution.

SOURCE: Not holding charge

Ok, folks.. I just posted my own problem with the battery not holding it's charge..but, we fixed it ourselves.. take the motor loose from the canister , remove the filter and in the back are two contacts.they are two screws at the bottom one on each side... get out your pencil with a GOOD eraser and clean those contacts!..clean around them both and the contact (silver spot at the bottom) and you're good to go!!

SOURCE: My hand held Dyson vacuum will not charge. Every

My same symptoms are - after starting charge, Red light is on, then second light turns On. Then for a long time nothing happens. And later I have all three LED flashing.
I replaced battery and nothing changed.

Imeasured Power Supply voltage and found it 24.2v instead 28v as it stated on the label.

I opened it up and found that the three-lid chip marked 431 is faulty.
431 is a voltage shunt, which sets and controls output voltage.
You can use AIC431CUS or TL432 (TL431 has different pinout).
I replaced mine and volatge back to 28.25v and charger is now working as it should.

You can also use any TO-92 431 chip - there is enough room for it.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Hello, what is the significance

yes the reason the green and red light were flashing the way they are is because its a warning to you that the battery is either no longer good or there is problems with your wireing. Also those vaccumes were designed to not charge when there to cold or to hot as a saftey issue.

Battery could be depleted and unable to charge.

I have a stick dyson DC35. It runs out of power after being fully charged. I have cleaned filter and cleaned all parts numerous times, but still have the problem.

The battery may only be capable of partially charging but indicates it is fully charged, something like 100% of 50%. It may be time for replacement.

I just bought a dyson 35... And put the machine on charge. Now that I want to use it, it is not working. It is either the charger or the vacuum itself. Very disappointed.

Hi Zara, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC35 should charge from depleted within 3.5 hours. When your machine is taking in power, you'll see a green light on the charger assembly. When the machine is fully charged, the green light will shut off. Disconnect the machine from the charger cord before testing it, as your DC35 will never run when the charger cord is attached to the machine.

We're keen to help you check that both the charger assembly and the battery are working as they should be. If not, a replacement part should be covered under your 2-year Dyson parts and labour guarantee. We'd just need to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand to pinpoint the cause of the issue.

You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you, and helping you resolve this issue.

When I press the trigger the green light comes on but motor does not

Hi Peter, it's Jack at Dyson.

From what you're describing, it does sound as if your DC35 needs to be recharged. When the machine is charging, the LED on the charger will illuminate, but the LED on the machine itself will not. When the LED on the charger goes out, the machine is fully charged - this will take 3.5 hours from depleted.

Please try connecting your DC35 to the charger cord and allowing it at least 3.5 hours to charge until the LED on the charger goes out, then test your machine. If it's still not running at this point, we will need to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand. This will help determine whether there's an issue with the main body, battery or the charger itself.

I just bought a Dyson DC35 cordless vacuum cleaner, and the charger does not light up, nor does it seem to be charging the vacuum cleaner

Hi Jeff, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC35 should charge completely within 3.5 hours, and when fully charged the light on the charger will go out. If the battery doesn't seem to be taking in any power, we'd appreciate the opportunity to take you through some quick diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand. If a replacement part is needed, our experts will also be happy to confirm if this is covered under your machine's 2-year warranty.

My Dyson DC35 upright handheld shuts of intermittently while I am trying to vacume. It has a full charge. Any suggestions

      Hi Maura,

Thank you for reaching out. I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with your DC35. Generally, the problem you described is caused by a blockage or unwashed filter.

First, we recommend inspecting the cleaner head for any obstructions, then the wand and finally the inlet pipe where the wand connects to the main body. Second, we recommend washing your filter at least once a month by rinsing it with cold water only, squeezing it to remove any excess water and allowing it to air dry fully before returning it to your machine. Finally, if for any reason the steps above do not resolve the run time issue you have encountered please contact our Helpline to speak with an expert.

I have a Dyson DC35. It has just stopped working. The green light on the charger is on and the vacuum is plugged into the charger, but it is like the vacuum is completely dead.

I had a similar problem. I have it on the wall mount and it turns out the plug that goes into the dyson to charge the battery had become unseated from the mount. I pushed it back in ("click") and that fixed it.
