Question about Hilti Drills

1 Answer

Normal drill function works but hammer no longer works

I have had this drill for 15 years. Never a problem. Suddenly, after having used it for an hour straight (in normal mode), it no longer wants to hammer. Drill turns fine just pneumatics seem to have died. How can I get into the top part of the drill where the hammer assembly is? And what is likely to be wrong? Heat damage? Also, should the gearbox have oil or grease in it? Mine seems to be pretty dry! Thanks. Any help welcome.

It sounds like it's way overdue for a rebuild. That includes orings and grease and maybe brushes. Hilti.com should get you either a parts breakdown or a phone number to Hilti to see if you can still get parts.

SOURCE: I have a Hilti Hammer Drill model TE5 and I need know grease to use in it

the grease is called turmoil grease and is somewhat expensive. This also requires just about complete disassembly of the tool and smoe parts replacement.

look at the back of the brush holder for a tab that the forward/reverse lever locks into, it might be broken not allowing it to shift.

Inside there is a little plastic shaft, where the selector hooks to. They have had problems over the years stripping. Replacement part is still plastic. Yay! You may need a bearing puller or find some way to get the clutch off the shaft. Lemme know. Please rate me

If pos 22 980-707 is broken it does not function , also if pos 35 is broken 932-815 then also the motor drives but no hammer , also if pos 8 is not moving 987-705 because the lubrication is not good anymore if started leaking and if that happens the piece and all your o-rings will be worn by heating up because thefront ofyour hammer must be air tight all the way , a demolition hammer is made for lasting long hours but leaking although it is still so small its in a few hours inside becomes to hot for the seals o rings and lubrication and then there are Discussions for to get a Service Kit (H 45Sb) - ( 987-712 ) the hammer is to old for economic repair by others some parts are not anymore available, i know it where good hammers , but marketing technical changes in weight, more
more speed and less vibrations and for 7 years max parts in stock (not sometimes 15 years as before) and over that time its all discontinued demolition hammers are averaged of use of 6 years by normal usage.
Lubrication is not the problem but in front its must airtight otherwise
is bad for your arms and shoulders because its build for timing when its airtight.

Makita HP1640 hammer drill dual mode - 2 hours

Exchanged Makita HP1640 hammer drill for a new one. The 2nd drill did the same thing in under an hour!! Will return for refund. Instructions say the Forward/Reverse switch must be in a full up or down position for the Hammer/Rotary switch to move; well, it is and the Hammer/Rotary switch still stops at a 1/2 way point between modes. Although I can still use the drill, instruction warnings say not to because it may potentially burn out the motor. I'll have to go with a different brand this 3rd time around. It seems to be a design flaw.

How long does it take to fully charge the battery for my HILTI TE10A 36 VOLT CORDLESS DRILL

as a general rule it takes about an hour with a standard charger, but I can't find any info on your tool specific to charging. I would recommend calling 1-800-879-8000 and speak with them direct and you might also want to ask that a manual be sent to you.

Drill Started Smoking Now won't run

An overload could not cause catastrophic failure. Try contacting the manufacturer via internet and ask for their info on your product. If useful print it and bring back to the tech. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THEIR BULLY TACTICS. The 1st rule of any business is "The customer is ALWAYS right" Bring the tool back to where u bought it and demand a full refund.

Could be quite a few things from the switch to the brushes. Milwaukee I believe now has a 5 year warranty on their tools so I would recommend taking back for warranty service. Let me know if not and I would need the model number so I can look at the parts and try to come up with something.

Hammer drills and rotary hammers comparison

Basically yes. Lower power units are usually titled as "hammer drills." Higher power units, usually labeled "rotary hammers," tend to be larger and provide bigger impact forces. But there are a few differences that are worth knowing: The rotary hammer usually have a chisel only feature, for light chiseling and masonry removal. Rotary hammers also have specially designed chucks that only accept bits specifically designed to fit their chuck. The special chuck on a rotary hammer helps hold the drill bit and prevents it from slipping during use.
