System with 7260-00 handsets-Line lights but no ring tone

I have a system with 7260-00 handsets and when someone calls in to a certain line, the line lights up on the set, but no ring tone. When it finally triggers a ring tone, the other person has already heard it ring 4-5 times before we here it once.

that is not a user option it must be programed by a tech. it is a feature called idel line prefrence the other way iy can be accomplished is by using a hunt group but you will still need it to programed by a tech, you can contact me by email @ [email protected]

I have a BT advanced quad system and each phone is telling me Line Busy Calls cannot be made, and no dialling tone. BT engineer says no fault outside. What can I do?

check each phone make sure none of the handsets is holding up the line
eg someone did not end the call properly
When this happens the line will time out and you will get no dial tone. This is done to release the telephone switching unit at the telephone exchange . Once you find the handset that is not call ended . end the call and wait 90 seconds and try again.

Really bad crackling sound on certain calls

if only happens on certain calls it could either be the handset itself, a week point on all corded phones is the cable between the handset and the body of the phone. whilst talking to someone on a call wiggle the cord where it enters the handset, does it crackle if not do the same where the cord enters the phone body, if no crackle likely not phone.

next select a line if you have more than 1 line note which 1 and dial 17070. this will BT autotest the line. if more than 1 line on system do same for all lines. check with your system admin if there are quick codes to select individual lines, eg dial 9 for any line or 81 for line 1 82 for line 2 etc .

if you get crackle still on 1 of the lines get your maintainer to check the lione at the cable head where lines enter building

Phone displaying 'Out of Range', no dialling tone

This could be due to the fact that one of your phones is off the hook or unplugged. Check and make sure that all devices are operational and charged.. Don't forget to check the phone line itseft.

Failing to connect with phone line...

Have u connected the handset to the side below the hand cradle. & the line coming frm the wall should be connected to the line in on the printer & not the Extn. If its connected to the line in on the back of the printer,u should get a dial tone. U can also place a paper in the scanner & then press the option under fax till u get on hook dial.. that should also give u a dial tone.

Ringing problem

I assume it does not ring but just beeps to let you know another line is ringing in case you want to put the current call on hold and answer it. It's called Off-Hook Call Announce, you want to have that option turned off on your extension or possibly the entire system. Do you have someone at your location that makes programming changes to the system or do you pay a company for that?

No dial tone

The feature you are looking for is called "prime line" or "Line preference" but not "ringing line preference". It is not usually on by default on a multi-line business phone system. Your system can do this but I suspect it's a system programming feature and not something you can set yourself. You would have to have the phone system administrator make the change. Or you may pay an installation company to make programming changes?
