Question about Marantz Audio Players & Recorders
I have a 2238B with static coming from the left speaker. It is present regardless of source and there is more when I adjust the volume or balance. It is present when there is no source signal as well. It goes away completely when I use mono. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have seen dirty switches or pots cause constant static. I would get some contact cleaner and try spraying it into all switches and pots, and work them to clean the contacts. Also, check to see if there is static in a low-level output such as the one for a tape recorder.

SOURCE: No right channel output
Feed the amp with the left channel preamp to the right channel input on amp and check output. If you get output from amp then pre amp nedds to be checked out if still no output then amp is suspect. Randy

It is most probably a dirty speaker protection relay. gently tap the relay(the one that engages shortly after turning the amp on) when the fault is occurring and see audio returns. This should ascertain the problem. Replace it if it is a sealed type, or if it has a "lid" you can get off, burnish the contacts with a white business card, and give it a spray with contact cleaner/lubricant. Good luck and a "fixYa" rating would be great for my profile :)

That is a common symptom of not properly grounding of negative side of the output of power amplifier section.Just resolder all component parts joint in power amp.sectiton and double the solder all negative ground.Also clean the pots of all volume controls and selector with a lighter fluid or desame that fluid so whatever sound or crackling noise eliminated and works normal again.. Hope it may help you;;
