Question about GE GTWN4250DWS 3.9 DOE cu. ft. Capacity Top-Load Washer With HydroWave

1 Answer

I need to remove theagitato on a GEWWA8320GAL five cycle washer . Does it pop out like some or is there a top bolt ? Do not know the diswassembly proceedure for this older one.

Simply need to remove the agitator to access a hoodie string that is wrapped around the underside. I do not know the removal procedure for this specific unit. I know that some have a bolt on the top and some don't.

SOURCE: Remove the agitator

The agitator is actually pressed on without mechanical fasteners . Grab the bottom of the agitator firmly on each side. Pull up with a quick, hard **** (careful not to hit your face). If this does not work, wrap a belt under the agitator. Grab the belt firmly and pull up with a quick, hard ****.

SOURCE: NEED TO REMOVE AN AGITATOR FROM A WASHING MACHINE

  • 1 First you must determine the brand of washing machine you have.

  • 2 To remove agitator on a whirlpool washer, remove top cap from agitator, Next you will find a translucent cap, remove this with your pliers. Then you will see a 3/8 inch nut, Back this nut out and you can then remove the agitator. Be Careful though, inside the agitator where the bolt has been removed is a white piece of plastic that holds the "dog ears". These dog ears are what lets the agitator move in one direction and locks when the transmission moves back in the other direction.

Maytag and Admiral washers are very similar to remove. General Electric, (GE) is different, To remove a GE agitator simply pull upwards very hard, GE agitators snap on. Be careful not to pop it into your mouth, that really hurts.

  • 3 Remove agitator, repair or replace and reset, GE just push on, you will be able to see the groves to line up the agitator to the hub. For whirlpool place bolt into dog ear guide, and set down on top of transmission post and tighten, be careful that dog ears, do not get out of alignment. That's it.

    Buy F150 parts.

I have a Maytag washer - Model #MVWC5ESXWO and can't figure out how to get to the brake pads. Anyone know?

Yes I do know. First pop the console off with a putty knief. Run it under the ends on each side and depress the clips, Remove the two clips holding the cabinet by inserting a ***** driver into the clip end that is closest to you and prying backward. Unplug the lid switch, and Remove the cabinet .Then Remove the agitator by popping off the center cap, remove the bolt. Then lift of the agitator. You will need a spanner wrench to get off the hub nut. The remove the tub ring, and lift the wash basket out, remove the block, the thing the hub nut was ******* to. Now flip the washer on it's back. Remove the pump and I fold it out of the way, Remove the motor by removing the retaining straps, and unplug the connector. Remove the plate that holds the motor to the transmission. Remove the bolts holding the transmission in place. Then slide the transmission out. Not you can see the brakes inside the shallow cup, depress the spring on the brake ring and remove then from the clutch housing and re-install is the reverse order. Good luck. You can contact me if you need further assistance.

How To: Replace a transmission in an old school GE washer. Worth the effort!

These newer washers don't even compare to that of an old school GE washer.
These washers are built to perform. Like everything else, sooner or later she gonna need surgery. My friend Larry and I worked on a nice late model one today. We started by popping the top using a putty knife. 7ba1c11.jpg961b98a.jpgb1fafd8.jpg6d4527e.jpg057e9e6.jpg

Remove the agitator cap and screw then remove the agitator. Then the anti wobble. Then 3 half in bolts. I gotta tell yall something about these 3 bolts. They stay hard to turn all throughout their removal. You need a hammer and good fitting wrench. You bang on the end of the wrench. It is time consuming.Your patience will be rewarded Kimosabe. Remove tub. Then Boot. (it has 2 C-clamps holding it to the tranny. Then remove 6 five/ sixtenth inch bolts from the base and yank out dat tranny. Nothing to it.692ab58.jpg7c8f73e.jpg1995d7f.jpgAnother sighting of the famous Aussie ringtailed rat.
When reinstalling the boot. Be sure to fill the tub with water and look for leaksa32413b.jpg

Wait who's that dog? That would be Bear. d4c7ce9.jpg
This boot has 2 C-clamps. A smaller one mounts to the top of the tranny housing and a larger one mounts to the base. It is important to properly tighten these clamps to prevent leaking. Do not get in a rush or the clamp will not seat and the result will be a leak. You don't want no leaks.6797a44.jpgLeave the top up and let it go through a cycle. Make sure she agitates and spins without any leaks. d15d630.jpgMy friend Larry from Prichard,Alabamabc11df5.jpgTighten the clamps slowly till she stops leaking but do not over tighten.e3c34b1.jpgBonus pic: this old fan died. Trying to get top of cabrio washer to pull tub I have coins between drum and tub. How do you get top disconnected

There are two retention clips along the front located about 4-5 inches from each corner. After you get the top up, you will have to pop off the little cover that will reveal the agitator bolt. After removing the bolt, you can pull the agitator and the entire drum (take off top water flow thing as well). I pulled about $1.96 out of the bottom of mine but also had to pull the drain pump to get change out of it as well. For the person that said his washer made a noise during the spin cycle and thought it was a bearing, I would look for change behind the drum and in the pump first.

    Thanks,

    Bobby

When in spin cycle the tub is loose and makes a banging noice.

if the basket has excess movement separate from the agitator or tub then the hub nut may be loose or maybe the tub rusted out and broke. you will need to pop the top of the agitator off and remove bolt holding it to shaft, pull agitator out and look at hub nut.

How do I replace the battery and where is it located?

    Procedure:

Remove battery cover located under the hood on the passenger side in the back. Simply pry the plastic catch in the front, open it like a lid and jiggle it loose and set it aside.
Use the small flat screwdriver to pop up the center peg in the five peripheral fasteners holding down the plastic compartment cover that you just removed the battery cover from. Each of these has a small black plastic circular flat topped center peg inside a larger plastic circular disk which has 4 slots under which you can slide the screwdriver to pop up the center peg. When the peg pops up simply slide the screwdriver under the larger disk to remove the assembly and loosen that site of fixation. When all five fasteners are out you can remove the entire compartment cover.
The battery terminals are removed with the 10mm wrench
The black box in front of the battery can be lifted out of the way by pressing on the plastic catch in the front of the box to loosen it from the metal flange that it is attached to.
The metal battery holder is removed with the 10 mm wrench. The nut is removed and the long bolt is slid out of the holder and then unhooked from it's bottom anchor. Jiggle the metal bar over the top of the battery to unhook the back hook from its bottom anchor. It may be necessary to lift the plastic over the back of the battery gently and lift out the soft clear plastic washer fluid tube from its guides to get at the back hook.
Gently lift the battery out while holding the cables out of the way.

    10mm wrench, small flat screwdriver

    Agitator top part is lose

pop the top off your agitator. There is 4 small plastic pieces that make the top part of the agitator work. Remove the 7/16 bolt in the center of the agitator and pull the top of the agitator out. Replace what they call a dog kit. Go to any parts store and they will know exactly what your talking about. They are olny about 6 bucks. its an easy fix so no need for a service technician.

After this either it will start with a c1 or it will flash an error code, write down the code and within five seconds press spin again to advance so auto diagnostics will start, if your display is bad F 2 will pop up quickly.
