What's going on is either a misconfiguration on your video card, your monitor settings or a cabling/connector issue. A signal is being sent to the monitor it doesn't understand. You're going to have to play with settings and if you're using an adapter in your connectors, that could be the problem too.

Testimonial: "Many thanks. If you may elaborate, with which settings am I to play with? The problem appears rarely, but consistently, for instance, once a month for a whole day the monitor is nigh unusable."

OK That's a different scenario. Think about what programs you might be using when the error occurs. You might also look for a new video card driver. I was talking about a similar issue with a friend and it came down to Windows is a dynamic OS and linux/Mac Os's are static. When Windows calls a program it loads dll files and when it closes the program it over writes the dll files. There is an opportunity for glitches to be written to the dll file. Linux loads the lib files but when done doesn't write the lib files back to the lib directory.

"OSD LOCKED" box on my screen

The OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu button on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the warning message OSD Lock displays for ten seconds.

* If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD.
* If the OSD is unlocked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to lock the OSD.

OSD stands for "On Screen Display." It is an onscreen configuration menu included with various monitors. When you press the MENU button or one of the other buttons on the front or side of a monitor, the onscreen display may appear. The OSD typically includes monitor calibration options, such as brightness, contrast, and color adjustments. Some OSDs may also include horizontal and vertical position controls as well as tilt and keystone adjustments.
If you can't make adjustments to the monitor settings using the OSD interface, the onscreen display may be locked. You may also see the phrase "OSD Locked" appear when you try to change the settings. Some monitors include an option within the menu called "OSD Lock", which you can turn on or off. If this option is available, simply turn OSD Lock off and you will be able to make adjustments to the settings.
If your monitor does not include the "OSD Lock" option, you may be able to unlock the OSD by pressing and holding the MENU button on the front or side of the monitor for several seconds. If you try this method, be patient! It may take up to 15 seconds for the OSD to unlock.

Turn off monitor, hold down the menu button, turn the monitor back on, release the menu button after 10-20 seconds. Your Iiyama screen will now be unlocked.

Osd locked

On some display devices, there is an OSD Lock that locks all current control settings and prevents access to the control menus until this mode is unlocked.

The method for unlocking the OSD is different for different monitors, but will be one of the 2 below. If the first method doesn't work, try the second.

Method 1: Press and hold both the [1] button on the front of the monitor and the down arrow button for 10 seconds.

Method 2: Press and hold both the [1] button on the front of the monitor and the up arrow button for 10 seconds.

Note: These same buttons, when pressed for another 10 seconds, will lock the OSD.
