Question about Apple Cinema HD 30" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Apple cinema 30" turn off after boot

The problem is that when I turn on my pc the monitor displays the booting text quite ok, then after some seconds the monitor turns off (the white power indicator lights up) and the windows booting proceeds absolutely blindly (I just hear the windows welcome sound) and then if I unplug\plug eather small cable from the white power adapter-box or the thick power one, the monitor goes back on. I cannot understand why it happens because it happens not all the time, but approx in every second time I turn on or reset my pc.

I tried to see anything with a flashlight at it, but it seemed absolutely black (really looks like it's just off)

Please help me! And thank you in advance.

SOURCE: startup issue

Sounds like a problem in the power supply section that will need component-level electronic troubleshooting. If it's under warranty and less than 30-60 days, I would suggest an exchange. If not, I would call the number in the manual for help.

Blinking light on 20 inch apple display

Blinking light on Apple cinema display usually indicates insufficient power from the power supply. Test it with another power supply from ANY cinema display (23" and 27" power supplies are ok to test with).

My 30 inch Apple HD Cinema Display is stuttering/flickering upon opening video in full screen mode. Any idea on what the problem may be?

Check your connection to the screen. You may have a running application / process that requires a lot of processing power from your Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). If you wait until the application has completed its task, or quit the program, videos should run fine.

I have macbook pro and a 30" apple hd cinema display the best resolution I can get on the display is 1280x800 where are the higher resolutions?

Your computer will always give you all available options for resolution. If there is no higher resolution available in the settings screen, there is no higer resolution available for you. This is linked to your graphical processing unit inside your PC. This cannot be changed that easily

My cinema hd 30' display will not turn on nor does it look like its getting power

Hello, I have a Apple cinema HD 30 (A1083). I have no power. I checked the
power supply and it is good. I bought a main board from ebay. I still had the
same problem so I returned it (minus a 15% restocking fee). I read somewhere
that you have to have the usb cables plugged into the computer for it to work.
Is this true? If so I may have returned the part I needed to make this monitor
work. (just my luck) I bought this monitor for $25 used off craigslist. I am
really excited to get this working. I have heard great things about how
fantastic the dispay is. I am ready to do some gaming on it. I am an electronic
technician but not so familar with this apple monitor. I figured I would turn
to this forum to learn from some apple experts out there. Any imput would be
wonderful in troubleshooting my problem.

thanks

Tommy

Apple Cinema HD Display 30'' black screen, power light blinking

I don't know what might have happened, but a number of years ago I had an apple monitor and the power light on it started blinking, so I got in touch with apple and they told me that it's flashing an error code, so they told me what the blinking indicated and fixed it.

So I think the blinking of the power light on your monitor could be indicating an error code so I suggest you call apple and they will identify what the error is indicating.

22" Apple Cinema Display doesn't power on

This may be an issue with the display detecting the wrong video format or is using an unsupported resolution for this Apple Cinema Display 22"

Procedure:
• Make sure your Mac is turned off.

• Once your Mac is shutdown, you will need to perform what is called a PRAM reset (Parameter RAM)

• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously .

• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.

• Now, hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the start up sound for the third time.

• Release the keys and allow the Mac to start up.

If that does not help here is additional support reference from Apple regarding its LCD displays:

Let me know if this helps!

Cracked Apple Cinema 30"

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to remedy the problem, as I recall, you'd need to order the lcd paneling for the bezel itself (assuming the aluminum bezel is still fine), but be prepared to pay a rather hefty price. LCD panels are never cheap, at least if you order them direct for manufacturers or suppliers. You could try hunting around other websites that sell used parts, or if you happen to know someone that has an unuseable monitor but the LCD panel is still operational (just has to be the same part number and whatnot, unfortunately you can't just take any LCD panel and plop it in, in most cases). Hope this gives you a push in the right direction!
