Check the belt that turns the brush, either it slipped or needs replacement. You have to unscrew the bottom to take the brush roll out.

My shark vacuum nv350w26 carpet brush has quit spinning. The green light comes on and the brush goes for about 5-10 seconds and then the light changes to red and the brush stops. Any ideas??

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

How to trouble shoot a brush warning light

What color light are you referring to? If it is one of the green lights that is normal for the up and down adjustments. If it is the red one that is another issue. If it is the red one, what does it do while it is on? Does it flash or is it on solid?

EVERYTIME I PUSH THE BUTTON REALLY LOW TO ALLOW THOROUGH CLEANING IN THE CARPET, THE LIGHT DOESN'T TURN ON AND IT DOESN,T **** THE DIRT AT ALL.. IT ONLY WORKS IF YOU PRESS IT UP ONCE BUT IT DOESN'T GET ALL...

You need to replace the belt whenever the green brush indicator light goes out or is not steady. Be sure to observe the wear settings when re-installing the brush. The ends of the brush are marked with 1, 2, or 3 notches and numbers. In normal use the brush should have setting # 1 towards the rug. These settings adjust the brush for wear, and moving the bristles out prematurely will result in excess brush and belt wear.

Green light does not come on ans brush does not move. belt is good and brush does spin manually.

I assume this is a Kirby. The belt is not on the motor shaft if you can turn the brush manually. Remove the head, turn the belt lifter assembly clockwise to stretch the belt into a loop, place the head back onto the motor unit and latch it in place, then turn the belt lifter counterclockwise to drop the belt onto the motor shaft.

Carpet setting not working, no brush turn, no light, etc.

if the motor is running, its the belt, if not there is a break in your wire likely in the stub going from the wand to the head

Irobot moving slowly

Try running th roomba with the dust bin removed to see if the main brush is turning, if not it could be an issue with the gears being stripped in the brush motor assembly or inside the brush compartment holder. If the gears are fine the brush motor itself may be blown. A new one is about $30.00.

Brushes do not spin on my steam vac

We were having the same problem with the brushes not spinning.
How I fixed it:
I Removed the brush assembly by gently pulling on both sides of the assembly. I took a wide slotted screwdriver and inserted it into the slot (hole) that turns the brushes. At first it did not want to move. I GENTLY applied pressure by turning the screwdriver to get the gear to move and it began to move freely. I spun the gear a number of times using the screwdriver to make sure it was moving freely.

I reinstalled the brush assembly by aligning the gear that slides into the slot and gently pushing the clips back into place using equal pressure on both sides.

I plugged in the machine and the brushes now spin!

Good luck to everyone out there!
