Tappan tgf355 oven door won't unlock and has code f3

I have a tappan tgf355 self cleaning oven.  I was going to clean the oven, when it started beeping and displayed F3.  The cleaning process never started.  I have unplugged the oven, but the door still will not unlock.  I plugged it back in and the code comes up immediately and still will not unlock.  I need to know if there is a way to override the locking mechanism.

Thank you,

Self cleaning oven

Cycling the power off and then on again will sometimes reset it...often you will have to call the customer service number to get the steps to take to unlock that...

Nothing Works Shows F3 Error

the F3 error code is an oven temperature sensor fault. The sensor is a small probe that sticks out of the back of the oven wall. They do go bad and can be easily replaced. If I had your EXACT model number (found along the inside of the oven door or lower drawer) you can replace it.hope this helps

Unlock my Tappan Gas Over Door?

Hi wewada,

F3 code error indicates a bad oven temperature sensor (RTD). To fix this error, Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Door won't unlock after attempting the self clean. Self clean failed

Usually an F3 code means the temp sensor has failed. The oven control thinks the oven is to hot to open. You may have a failed control, but I would try replacing the sensor first.
Post back with any questions. Have been very busy at work and have not been online answering questions much lately but will answer back when I can.
Thanks, Mike

Whilrpool Self Cleaning Range Door won't unlock

try this 1. Verify error code by pressing and holding CANCEL/OFF key for 5 seconds.
Momentarily (less than 5 sec.) press CANCEL key again to remove error code
2. Press and hold any key for 1 minute until F2 E0 code is displayed.
3. Cancel F2 E0 error code.
4. Program and start the clean mode. Observe to see if door locks. If it does not,
inspect the locking mechanism from the solenoid to the latch pawl and door to
find the cause of the problem. If the door is not locking, then 1 minute from the
start of clean, the F5 E1 code will again be displayed. Steps 1 through 3 will
have to be repeated before another clean can be started.
5. Once any mechanical problems with the latch mechanism have been corrected,
program and start a clean cycle (after, if necessary, clearing F5 E1 error code)
to ensure proper operation of the door lock. Immediately cancel the clean mode to observe proper operation of door unlock

Problem codes for self-cleaning ranges

My experience (Kenmore Ultra-bake Model 665-72002102) was that E1 F5 meant an error with the oven lock switch. In our case, the latch was partly stuck from food or other debris. Just moving the latch back and forth loosened the scale that was making it stick, and it worked again.
