Settings to shoot jewelry with dsc650?

Use the macro mode. See page 21 of this handbook: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DSCS650_handbook.pdf

You'll probably want to shoot in diffused light. Put a white sheet on a table or the floor of a well-lit room, but out of direct sunlight. Don't use the flash. For best results, put the camera on a tripod and use the self-timer.

I have a nikon coolpx 10 mega and i cant seem to get a super clear picture,..what is the best shooting mode and settings to have on when im taking head-shot photos?

The best settings for head-shots or close up photo is portrait and when in portrait mode, the shutter speed is a bit slow and you shouldn't move your camera away from the subject after taking the shot, you have to allow at least a fraction of a second for the image to be totally capture by the lens for a finer registry. Also if the image is a little fuzzy or grainy, you can try to set the ISO into a lower value as well. Hope this helps.

Hi, Don't know how to obtain clear close up of small subject

Mount your camera on a tripod. Set it for "macro" mode. Turn off the flash. Light the jewelry with lamps (like worklight reflector clip on lamps) fitted with daylight balanced compact flourescent bulbs. Use poster paper of various colors for background. Set your ISO to 400. Set your white balance to "auto white balance". Have fun!

I have a Powershot A85 and am trying to shot silver jewelry and am having a problem getting a clear picture. I have lost my manual - can you tell me how do I get a clean clear picture to put on a website?...

Recommend a room with good ambient, non-direct, lighting. Also place the camera in "Portrait" mode (the dial selection with the lady's profile). Also turn off the flash by pressing the lightning bolt button repeatedly until you get the icon with the slash through the lightning. Next put it in close-up macro mode by pressing the little flower button. Next use the timer to take the shot, by pressing Func Set, then scrolling down to the mode selection, and then scrolling right to select the 2 second option.

The camera is now set for such a closeup. Recommend using a tripod to keep the camera extra steady during the shot. If no tripod is available, recommend bracing the camera against another object, such as a chair to help keep it steady. Aim and zoom at the piece of jewelry, push the shutter halfway down to focus on the jewelry (should see a green box). Once you get the green box indicating focus, press the shutter all the way down to start the timer. Hold the camera extra steady until about a second after the shot.

Good Luck!

I need instructions for minolta freedom zoom 70 exI want to know what macro does.

Hi. As a pro photographer, I can tell you what 'macro' does on all cameras or lenses. 'Macro' focusing is for focusing on close objects, say an inch or two from the lens to a couple of feet. It is for closeup shots, say ants, or a fly, or someone's eye, raindrops on glass, etc. Try it out sitting on a patterned countertop or table or tablecloth to give you an idea, focusing far away and up close.
As far as the manual, there doesn't seem to be anything on the official site unfortunately. Good luck and have fun.

How can I take pictures of something small and detailed, like jewelry

Try using the mode that shows the icon of the flower, it is for close-ups. Also try using bright desk lamps to illuminate the jewelry well enough so that a flash is not needed. if you can, set up a white box or white posterboard to bounce light around, this too will help. Placing the camera on a tripod or something to steady it while shooting will help as well.
