Espresso maker continually leaks when heating

Most likely a gasket problem. But you say that it drips water while it heats. Try it without the coffee holder; it shouldn't leak.

Why the water not going up to the pump?

Plz try the following steps if not satisfied plz revert:

  1. Make sure the water reservoir is full and properly fitted into its position.
  2. The grounds should not be over-packed into the filter.
  3. Make sure the filter holder fits properly into the holding ring.
  4. You may need to clean the filter basket and the brew head

Had not used machine for long time. now leaking around fitting area where cofffee holder is attached. not coming out the middle.

Long time is relative. check the gasket or "O" rings to see if they are missing and/or dried out. Also check to see if old grounds are stuck to the top piece, where the coffee holder is attached. I am guessing this is the problem. Some gaskets/"O" rings are available from Lowes or Home Depot, if not then the manufactures website will help.

How do I fix a leak from the coffee holder unit

Does it leak around the pod holder, or after the holder is removed?
It it is around then you need to replace the head gasket.
If it is after then the solenoid or the valve seat is damaged.

Just bought machine. Filter holder is different from one described in booklet. It talks about the filter holder has been replaced by a spring systems that holds the filter in place. OK...so I got the big...

hi m.fleshman! in answer to your question, i paid $25 for mine used...it's like a $25 paperweight. hold the coffee grinds basket up to a light-can you see light thru just one hole, or all of the holes? if just one, this passed quality control at the factory & shouldn't have passed. i imagine that details like this are rampant on this machine. if i had bought mine at the store instead of 2nd hand, i'd take it back for a full refund! otherwise, it may be that someone put the wrong filter in the package. it's also possible that you may need to take out the spring (if it's removable) from the bottom of the filter holder-i don't know b/c i bought mine used. hope this helps!

I purchased a new machine and cannot seem to get the stainless steel filter to fit into the filter holder and then fit into the slots - what is the trick?

try this: on the handle there is a black clip that needs to be slid back away from the filter holder; filter basket should now fit (more or less); the markings for lining up the filter-handle into the brew-head slots are a little off; look up at the brew head, familiarize yourself with the location of the slots; line up the filter handle (make sure that black tap is still pulled back, or it won't go in). hope this helps!

The filter and the holder are actually sort of oval shaped, not perfectly round. It will fit, takes some monkeying around with it. Careful tho, the edges are pretty sharp for my 60-wpm soft hands.

Could be several things.
Is it new and the right one?
Sometimes the gasket gets loose and comes down a little. Try pushing it back up with something that won't puncture it (such as the non-writing end of a Bic).
Make sure that the basket is pushed in the handle all the way.

Good luck!

the filter has a little indent that must be placed correctly, if you put the filter in the holder and then rotate the filter you will feel it click into place when it is in the right position ( there is a gap for the indent at the front of the holder)
