How to turn off motorola T289 two way radio

On your left hand side as you face the radio, there is a row of buttons. The top button is the power button.

Here is a link you can copy and paste for the owners manual. (Click T289 PDF in the upper right hand side of the page to download)

I have a Motorola SX600R two-way radio. Battery

Remove the battery and reinsert it to reset the radio. Also, check to see if any buttons are depressed or stuck. If these are not the cause, you might have a bad radio. (Sorry)

Motorola CP200, radio just beeps when im pressing any button.

It is possible your radio is not programmed, or has a bad/old battery.

It is normal for the side buttons 1 and 2 to beep when depressed to indicate you turned the feature on/off. Each of these buttons has the ability to be programmed a long and a short press feature.

If your radio beeps when your press the PTT button, on any or all channels, it indicates a low or nearly dead battery. Check your battery date code to see if the battery needs replaced.

If your radio emits a long tone on a channel, that channel is not programmed to function.

If your radio beeps a single beep when you turn it on, this is normal.

Charge your radio completely overnight, with the radio turned off. See if this solves the problem. If not, try a new/different battery to see if it will solve the issue. If not, drop by your local dealer and let them look at the unit.

Radios dont recieve from each other..

The buttons you are referring to are programmable buttons, and it would depend on how they are programmed. In most cases depressing the buttons will not change the radio in such a way you could not communicate. When changes are made, they are changed back to normal by shutting the radio off and turning it back on. See page four of the owners manual.

You might want to read the section on the light on the radio on page 3. It may help.

Other questions which come to mind: Have you changed antennas recently? Have you tried the radios together on all channels? Have you tried the radios in a different area? Have the radios been reprogrammed recently? Do you use a repeater? If so, the repeater may be not working or malfunctioning, or you are out of range, check with your service provider.

Fr50 beep

Hello mtnrvr,

The Motorola TalkAbout radios, especially the FR50 and FR60, are notorious for making a variety of beeps when you push buttons and activate various functions of the radio.

The beeps can be helpful when you are trying to operate the radio in low-light situations. But they can also be mildly irritating.

Sadly most models of TalkAbout do not provide any way to disable the beeps. I'd suggest not using this particular radio for covert surveillance missions.

Best Regards,

Motorola T5950 led screen

Typically a blank screen indicates you are using a bad or defective battery. Try the battery of another radio in this unit and see if the problem still exists. There is no function to shut off the display screen, so it is apparent you have either a battery or radio problem.
