The brush will not spin any more. What can I do?

It sounds as if: -
  1. The belt has broken between the motor and the brush, or
  2. The brush bearings have become clogged with long fibres or hair and have jammed.
Turn the vacuum off and remove the plug from the electricity outlet. Wrap up the cord so that it cannot be accidentally switched on.

Turn over the vacuum and look at the brush. Can you turn it by hand? If yes, the belt has either broken or slipped off. You could buy a replacement part and fit it yourself if you are handy with a screwdriver or take it to a local vacuum repair shop. It should take less than an hour to fix.

or,

Turn over the vacuum and look at the brush. Can you turn it by hand? If No, then check the ends of the brush where it sits in the body of the vacuum. Are there fibres or hairs sticking out at either end?

You will need to remove these hairs and fibres until the brush rotates with some resistance.

Hope this gives you some place to start.

The brushes do not disengage when in upright position

Set the brush control, as needed. The brush control turns the brushbar on the underside of the vacuum on and off. The button is located beside the power button, on the top-front of the vacuum cleaner. Turn on the brush control for cleaning carpet. Turn off the brush control for bare floors or delicatelb_icon1.png rugs..

THE ROLLER BRUSH WILL NOT TURN. I PUT ON A NEW BELT AND IT BROKE IMMEDIATELY. THE ROD THAT HOLDS THE BELT IS MOVING BUT THE BRUSH IS NOT MOVING.

Apparently something is binding the brush, keeping it from turning. Remove any string, hair, etc., that is wrapped around the brush. Removing the brush is the easiest way to do this, then cut the material through at one point.
While the brush is out, check the ends for signs of damage that may cause the brush to bind. Also, check the area the brush connects to.
Reattach the brush and try to spin it. If it spins freely, put your vacuum back together, with another belt, and try again.
If this doesn't work, I suggest a new/different vacuum.

Vacuum turns on but the brush is not rotating

Most likely a problem with the drive belt or the beater brush. Either the drive belt is broken or the beater brush is frozen due to debris. If you can not turn the beater brush by hand, it should be removed and cleaned well. The ends of the beater brush that hold it into the vacuum should be lubricated with some WD40 and moved by hand until they are free. Once the turn freely, replace the beater brush. If the drive belt is broken or missing, it needs to be replaced.

The beater brush wont spin because the brush roll is always in the off position. Moving the carpet/hard switch doesn't turn it on.

Hello :
Try this please :
Switch the carpet/bare floor dial back & forth 5 times, ending on carpet. Tilt the handle back as if to vacuum upright & lay the vacuum on its side so it is resting on the side opposite the carpet/bare floor dial. Turn the vacuum on.
Or Maybe the belt is broke. You will have to replace the belt before the roller can spin. You must have run over something in the carpeting like string or whatever to have it break. Happens all the time. Get several replacement belts to keep as spares while you're at it as nothing is worse then having to vacuum and no spare belts.
........................
Try this also please :
Things You'll Need: Phillips head #2 screwdriver Replacement belt for your vacuum model Spray lubricant, such as silicone spray or teflon lube.
1: Unplug the vacuum. Never work on an electrical appliance when it is plugged into an electrical outlet.
2: Turn the vacuum over and locate the plastic or metal plate that covers the rotating brush. Remove this plate.
Note: This plate is typically attached by a small number of Phillips head screws or by levers that turn and lock the plate in place. In either case, removing this plate is a simple task.
3:Identify the vacuum's rotating brush. This brush should have a black rubber belt wrapped around it, and stretched around the metal shaft of an electrical motor mounted somewhere toward the back of the vacuum.
4:Verify that the brush will rotate freely. Examine both ends of the brush to ensure that no threads, string, yarn, etc. have become wrapped around the ends and thus inhibited a free rotation. If there is foreign debris, remove the brush by sliding it up, away from the bottom of the vacuum. Remove the debris
5:Lubricate both ends of the rotating brush with the spray lubricant. Replace the brush into the grooves which hold it in place
Replace the existing belt on the brush assembly, or replace a broken belt with a new vacuum belt.
6:Verify that the brushes now turn freely when back in place and that the motor shaft turns as the brush rotor turns.

The roller brush will not turn. The belt is not

Hello,

Sometimes the belt can stretch cause the roller to not turn. Also make sure the roller brush is free of any debris.

Use this link to access your vacuum to change belt or clean the roller brush.

Vacuum just turned off when vacuuming and won't turn back on.

if your motor got too hot there is a motorguard switch on there and it has to cool down before it will come back on.check under the vacuum and see if you can turn the brush roller by hand, unplug first.if it turns real freely then the belt is broke.if you can't turn it at all then the brush roller is either jammed or the bearings on the brush roller are froze up.and if thats the case, that will cause your motor to overheat and shut down.if the brush roller and belt are ok then the brushes on the motor might be going bad.call me if you need more info.314-628-9153
