Nikon FM10 will only release shutter with cable

Hello Blair,
I too like old school camera, mine are the N2000, N6006, N80, and F100. First without film in the camera I would attempt to release the shutter. If it does then there is something going on with the film transfer causing a bind.

However, If it continues not to release the shutter I would put the FM10 on the shelf then go to KEH.com for another. Just now checked KEH.com, 2014-05-26, a FM10 in EX condition is $89, EX+ condition $99. That would be a much better move than repairing yours and less expensive.

Cordially

Long exposure? how dp you acoomplish this using the pentax k-1000

You will need an external shutter release that locks. Connect the shutter release, then on the camera set the shutter dial to B (bulb). With the shutter release cable fire the camera and lock the plunger, or hold it down. Using a shutter release cable you are less likely to cause camera shake. Of course have the camera on a tripod or something steady.

Please teach me how to set white balance manually in GE X5?

Press the FUNC/OK button to bring up the Advanced Functions menu. Use cursor-left/right to select "WB". Select Manual. Point the camera at a white or neutral gray object, fill the screen with it, and press the shutter release button.

It's all described on pages 26 and 27 of the manual. If you need the manual, you can download a copy from the manufacturer's web site at

Cable releases will not operate shutter of Pentax A3

Take one of the cable releases and press the thumb pad and extend the release probe. Lock the release in the fully extended position. Try inserting the probe into the shutter release hole and see if it works. If not then try using a thick needle from the head end and see if the release actually works on the camera. If it does then measure the depth that the needle goes to in order to work the shutter and compare to the exposed length of the release cable. You may find that it is not long enough although I would have thought unlikely.

Nikon-d40 (shutter relese problum)

Can you explain more please ?

The Nikon D40 does not have shutter release or as known cable release, but does have a wireless remote control release.

If the shutter is not working properly....

Remove the battery and reinsert.
Remove the memory card and try again
Check the lens is correctly fitted.
Is the lens a compatible fit

Cant figure out where the shutter release cable hooks up oncamera

Sorry my friend, but the HTsi model lacks facility for a cable release. Use the self timer on a tripod instead to eliminate camera shake

Here's the link to a user guide if you don't already have one:

Shutter release cable for panasonic fz18

There is no cable release for this camera--the belief seemed to be that the timer function would be sufficient

Orange Warning Light

I recently had a similar problem and found the answer to be the shutter release on the lens itself.

When the using the shutter release, (mirror up feature), on the lens the shutter release, screw in portion, in the lens will actually will pop out to accomidate for the cable release.

There will be a small red circle around the base of the area where the cable release would screw into.

Try pushing that back in. Worked for me.

Good luck,

James
