Phone brand will determine if that can fixed or not. Some cheaper models do end up like this and you can't do much, even you have it fixed, the problem will return and finally you loose your phone. Other wise you search the manufactures website for possible help there.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

If your phone has the following menu settings, (I do not have one to check myself for you) see if you can change them from tapping to swiping

Touch the menu, settings, accessibility, call answer/ending call, answer calls by tapping

What's wrong with my phone?

Nothing! That is the iPhone quick access screen which is accessed by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. I use it a lot to use the flashlight. To close it touch that little downwards arrow at the top.

All you need is open your phone and locate the touch screen connection that connected on your screen, then remove it carefully and clean it and insert again, then open your phone,,,
if nothing's happen, you will now have to buy a new screen to replace it

Last Gmail I looked at is locked on screen on right side.

Close GMail first by swiping it off the running apps screen.

Uninstall GMail using the *Uninstall* option in:

Settings > Apps > Downloaded > GMail. Touch GMail and you will get another screen with an option to uninstall it. Touch the uninstall button and it will uninstall.

Then go to the Google App Store and download it again. It sounds like the Mail app got corrupted somehow.

New playbook. Welcome screen tells me to swipe to continue to setup wifi. I swipe the screen and nothing happens

try to soft reset it by engaging the reset button ..If it has such a button it should be hidden in a hole on the side and need to be pressed until restarts ..(it should be powered and on when you do this) ..
If there is no button ..it means it has something wrong with the touch screen function ...and you should try to see if the screen is not out of focus..and try to swipe it in a certain point ..and if it is indicated..try in near by locations ...If you manage to make it start you should look in the main menu for screen calibration ..and engage it ..this should make the touch screen work proper again .
In worse case you will need the firmware and reset it to factory settings ..
