Teresa you lost the guide?! You cannot afford to buy a new one at $22-29 dollars! They are OLD?! Guess what? You just answered your own question. Go to WalMart, Break down and buy new ones. Don't take them apart unless your seated and have a magnet near you! By the way a New Guide will cost you $12 dollars with a blade. They come in sets only. So $12 old one $22 new one? Duh I wonder what I will do?
ok the blade latch only holds the blade into place.
the hinge assembly which the latch sits behind needs to be open, there is a silver piece with two ridges on, place a flat bladed screwdriver behind the hinge and this will lever open you can then slot the blade onto the hinge and close shut with the clipper running.
How old is your clipper, Oster clippers need to be adjusted for more power and speed, also what clipper blade are you using to cut the horse hair and how long is the horse hair, Also the blade may not be sharp, some new blade are sharp maybe defective.
The screws on the side of the housing don't serve any purpose other than keeping the brush and spring in the clipper. You can send your blade in for realignment or call 800-830-3678(factory service) and they will help you with all your issues.
Push top blade to right side right with finger, then turn clipper on and dip into 3 in one oil, blades only, let clipper run for one minute, clean excess oil off blades,if clipper still want vibrate, take blades off the clipper and clean them, then place back on clipper, I've had this problem many times,i also repair clippers, adjust blades,etc...
