SOURCE: will not post at startup
is it a usb keyboard? usb keyboard support is probably off in the bios, so it will not recognise it untill windows loads driver for it. if you have an older keyboard around with the old purple PS2 plug on it, that should work for you to get into the bios. then turn on USB keyboard and mouse support.

SOURCE: when i play a game
This is usually due to a resolution problem. see if you can reset the settings to default in the game. sounds like you are trying to play game in a resolution the monitor doesn't support.

Try going to the alienware website and updating the drivers for all your components, otherwise call dell customer support as they generally provide excellent service.

Assuming you can eject disks, and the drive is appearing in my computer / windows explorer, check the SATA (usually red) cable connected between your drive and motherboard, If it is correctly connected try using another SATA port on your motherboard, if
that doesnt work you can try going into the bios (usually by pressing
delete as it is booting) then checking to see if the drive is being detected, you should see it in SATA devices, and also in your boot menu. If it isnt there its a hardware problem.. replace cables, try using the SATA port from one of your Hard drives.
If the drive is in showed in bios, and is not appearing in my computer / windows explorer, go into control panel, system, hardware, device manager (if using XP, other versions of windows also have device manager) if there is a yellow question mark next to the dc/dvd drive, run the installation cd for your drive, or right click, update driver, run through the wizard selecting the location where you saved the drivers.
If it is installed correctly, and you have tried numerous disks, making sure they are not dvd's if its a cd drive, the you can try downloading the bios file from the manafacturers website and updating following their instructions
