Question about Kenmore 74602 Gas Dryer

Open Question

I have a Kenmore Gas Dryer, model 110.73942101. During the start of the drying cycle, the drum spins, I hear the click and the glow plug glows, the second click the gas releases and fires. This will happen the one or two more times and then all that occurs is the glow, but no ignition. If I let the dryer sit fora few hours it works fine for the first two or three firings and then the same, glow but no ignition.

90% of all gas dryers lighting intermittently is resolved with new coil packs on the gas valve. The coils are replacable fairly easily and inexpensive.

your dryer has a safety feature that it will not run or heat when the door is opened. It is so no gas fumes are exhauseted into your home. Once the safety is engaged, It will not allow the dryer to restart for a short while. It should clear itself after only a few minutes. Hope this helps, good luck.

SOURCE: Dryer not drying

First thing to check is the vent. Make sure you have sufficient air flow to the outside. If you are not sure if you have the proper rate of flow, disconnect the vent from the dryer, turn dryer on and see if burner stays on longer. Do this with a couple of damp, spun-dry towels inside the drum. If the burner short cycles again, you need to replace the coils on top of the burner assembly. These are the two black round coils.

if you hear the valve clicking but no gas the valve is bad.when the burner lights theres a probe that senses that it is lit and sends a microvoltage back to the controller to tell its lit.check to make sure all ground wires are grounded to a clean metal surface.

Dryer spins, screen clean, exhaust open blows good no heat

Check the coils on valve or the igniter. Access both thru Access panel on lower right of front panel. Set heated dry cycle & start, igniter should glow bright followed by a "Click" sound, which is valve opening. If it glows and no click, replace the valve coils (2 donut looking objects on top of valve). If no glow, replace igniter, usually just unplug to remove, carefully, they are ceramic and break easy.

Gas dryer Amana Model LGA30AW, rattling noise, no heat.

I was experiencing a similar problem. I just repaired mine yesterday, with the help of this web site. Remove the front bottom panel. The are two screws located on the bottom of the panel. They are there, just slightly hidden. Turn on dryer to heat. Look inside where the panel was. Wait a minute or two and you will see the igniter glow. After a minute or so you might hear a click and the gas valve will open to start flame. After a while flame will go out until it cycles again. If your igniter glows and you hear the rattling noise and then the igniter glow goes out and you have no flame, it might be your solenoid coils are bad. These are the two black round things located on top of the gas valve. Make sure your gas dryer is unplugged. There is a wire clip attached to each solenoid. Unplug them. I needed to pry them off carefully with a flat screwdriver. There is a metal bracket holding those two solenoids in. There are two screws that you will need to remove the bracket. Use a flashlight to see them. Slide them up and off the gas valve. One is a 2 prong and one is a 3 prong. I bought a new set for 26.75. Put the new ones back the same way as you took them off. The is little nips on the top of the solenoid that line back up with the holes of the top bracket when reassembling them. Plug your machine back in and turn on and watch to see if the ignitor glows again and watch for the flame. Put panel back on and enjoy dry hot clothes again. GOOD LUCK

My kenmore dryer does heat up all the time.

After the glow plug starts glowing a sensor detects this bright glow and turns on the gas which will be ignited by the glow plug and you have flames.

So, it could be this sensor or in the gas valve solenoids. You will need an OHM meter to check this.
