The problem you are having is common when these units have been in use for a while. There is a sludge buildup preventing the brewed coffee from leaving the brewer soon enough. Straighten out a paper clip and use the wire to open up the blockage in the hole where the coffee would enter the coffee cup. You may have to go up from the bottom in order to do this thoroughly.

You most likely have a buildup of hard water deposits in the machine. Get about a quart of white vinegar, put in the machine just like you would water, and run it. Let it soak for an hour or so, and try again until it clears up. It may take several runs to get the machine clear.

After it runs normally again, run water through it three or four times to remove the vinegar taste from the machine.

I do coffee by weight. The ratio of 10 grams of coffee for 6 ounces of water seems most common if you look at coffee websites. Make a couple of cups worth, try different amounts, and then scale up to a full pot when you find what works best for you.

Recipe for oatmeal cookies


Oatmeal cookies
Makes 20 cookies 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
dash of nutmeg (optional)
dash of ginger (optional)
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper or spray with non stick spray.
In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat butter and both sugars until fluffy. Mix in egg and vanilla until well blended. Combine flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, baking soda, salt, baking powder and in a bowl. Stir into butter mixture. Gently stir in oats until well blended.
Shape dough into rounded golfball-sized balls (about 2 Tbsp. each). Place on prepared baking sheet . Flatten with the bottom of a measuring cup dipped in sugar.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet 5 minutes before removing to rack to cool completely.

Perfect party dips, all made easy in a slow cooker


The best part about a slow cooker is that all you have to do is drop the ingredients in and let them simmer for hours.
Here are some of my favorite dips to make for a get together in my slow cooker.

Spinach and Artichoke - Cook on high for two hours

24 oz. frozen Spinach
2 8 oz. package Cream Cheese
1 cup shredded Parmesan
2 cups Mozzarella
2 14 oz. cans Artichoke Hearts Chopped
1 small Onion diced small
1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
1 Tbs. Horseradish
1 Tsp. Chili Powder

Bacon Cheese Dip - Cook for three hours on high

1 Package Bacon, cooked and chopped
1 16oz Package Cream Cheese
4 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 Teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
1 Teaspoon Hot Sauce
1 Cup Half n Half
1 Teaspoon Minced Onion
1/2 Teaspoon Dry Mustard
Salt to taste


Caramel Apple Pie Dip - Cook for five hours on low
5 cored, skinned and chopped Granny Smith Apples

How to converts grams of white sugar into teaspoons


A volume of white sugar varies in density due to its granularity. One cup = 48 teaspoons of granular sugar weighs roughly 200g, the same volume of powdered sugar weighs 120g only.

Assuming granular sugar, 1g of sugar is equivalent to 48 / 200 = 0.24 teaspoons. If you want to find out how many teaspoons are equivalent to a given mass of sugar in grams, multiply the weight by 0.24. For powdered sugar, 48 / 120 = 0.4 is the proper conversion factor.

For example: 20g of granular sugar is equivalent to 20 x 0.24 = 4.8 teaspoons. 20g of powdered sugar is equivalent to 20 x 0.4 = 8 teaspoons.

Original recipe makes 1 cake
  • 2 cups white sugar

How much coffee do i use in a 55 cup coffee pot?


I US teaspoon per cup is recommended. 1 US cup = 48 US teaspoons, so for a 55 cup coffee maker you would use 1&1/4 US measuring cups of coffee. Add a little more (1/4 US cup) for stronger coffee brew.
