Question about Kenmore Dryers

1 Answer

I have to change the Heater element on Kenmore 1108564290 but I can't get it off.

Heater element is in a solid unit, not the newer style where the bottom half is removable.

Brett, this tells me that you have an older unit and there is a 5/16th screw into a clip at the top of the heater box. There may or may not be a hole in the back panel above the heater box where you could put a nut driver through to loosen the screw, if there is not a hole you will need a stubby handle and nut driver to get to it or use a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 5/16th socket and reach in above the heater box to find the screw and clip. Once you have the screw and clip out, pull out on the upper half of the heater box until you feel it pull out of it's hole and then lift up on the whole box about an inch and pull out at the bottom to disengage the bottom clips and then pull the box down and out of the machine. You should also find a 5/16th screw or two that hold your heater frame into that box. Hope this helps!

Mzd2766geb maytag ref freezer door insulation frozen solid with ice

Even if the unit if issue free, this older design is still suseptable to moisture intrusion behind the inner liner. If your ice is below or around where the fointain area is, than you may be leaking water from the fountain behind the outer door shell. Since your outer door and inner liner are no longer avail, the best suggestion is to turn the entire fridge off, and let everything completely dry before re assembly. Once insulation gets imbedded with moisture and freezes, the insulation factor diminishes. Although your outer door insulation should be the newer style semi solid foamed in style, so moisture intrusion will not be any deeper than an inch or so. If the fountain heater has failed around the dispenser, you attract moisture to that area too. Pleazer Appliance...

I have a kenmore oven. Just got an F2 error and the oven element will not turn off. Even when powered down, it heats back up when oven is in off position.

Range "Older Style"
F2 Oven too hot Replace relay board (if present) or oven temperature sensor

Range "Newer Style"

F2 Oven temp sensed; over 600F sensed by control in time of day mode, bake mode, or over 900F sensed in clean mode. Ohm test the oven temperature sensor, if OK, change power relay board.

Does not heat

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
There are a few reasons why this is happening i have listed the most common items to check listed below
1st is the heating element this is the most common thing that fails
The heating elements are a common problem with dryers not heating and are an easy do-it-yourself repair. On the Newton style dryers, the heating element is located under the tub on the right in a round heater-can. To access it, first remove the front panel by removing the two screws on each side at the bottom of the front panel or if it's a newer model, prize the clips under the front panel. Then pull out the bottom of the front panel until the top clips release. This should release the top so that you can lift it up. Once up, you should see the heater at the back. Checking the heating element is the same for both styles. First disconnect power from dryer then unplug the wires going to the heating element. Next using your ohmmeter , check to see if you have continuity between the terminals on the heating element.
If you don't,have continuity the heating element is bad and needs replacing, if there is continuity the heating element is ok.

On a kenmore conventional dryer they had for a million years the heating element is on the rear of the machine on the right. Some newer models "princess type" have a lower front panel and a heater that just yanks out for easier servicing.

Kenmore..Few years old came with the house

Check the spade/lug wiring connectors under the unit at the motors They can work loose. These newer units only use the heating element for a short time. If you get it running again do not use tablet soap. Start your sink's hot water until its too hot to touch then start the washer, let the tank fill then open the door and pour in an additional gallon of hot sink water mixed up with liquid cascade soap. To get "Energy Star" compliance, They have made trade offs to use less water and energy. When mine is running it still doesnt clean very well at all. consider installing a small R.V. water heater under the sink or nearby.

Also make sure your drain hose is clear and has no kinks in it.
