I've got a CyberShot DSC-W30 and about 2 or 3 months after I bought it, I noticed that under natural light outdoors, the image gets distorted while taking pictures, and they come out distorted when reviewing them. Everything comes out in various shades of pink, and solid black. That was close to 3 years ago. I figured out that if I just turned it off and then on again a couple of times it quit doing that, but would eventually come back. I tried contacting Sony twice, but they never got back to me. It only happens when I'm taking pictures using natural sunlight or a flourescent light. Other than that, indoors under any other normal source of light they come out fine. But NOW, I can't get it to go away at ALL. I was at an event a couple days ago outside and the whole screen in the sunlight went black. But indoors it was fine. I really don't understand what's going on here. Anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate some help.
It sounds like the light sensor on the camera is malfunctioning. Try cleaning the sensor. If the senor doesn't work at all it will not be able to tell when the camera is operationg in bright light. Kind of like having your eyes dialated and walking outside on a sunny day.
