If voltage is present then the battery is a suspect, if not the motherboard charging circuit has problems if adaptor is good and there is no charging.

If the adaptor is good then the fault can be in teh motherboard or the charging circuit within. Please check the voltage at the pins of the battery terminals in the laptop to confirm. If so you must get support from HP to estimate.
