Question about LG WM-2277HW Front Load Washer

1 Answer

LE error (checked stator and replaced HAll sensor already)

I am getting an LE error code on my LG wm2277hb washer. I have tested the stator and it appears to be good (ohms test between connectors). I have also replaced the Hall sensor as well. I've looked for bad/ broken wires but haven't found any. The motor doesn't seem to have any problems spinning. The drum spins freely without issues or noise. The motor seems to have no problems turning as it will cycle through the wash cycle without getting stuck. I have also run it through the diagnostic cycle and the motor spins the drum without issues. I am wondering, could be the control board causing this issue somehow?

If the control board does not receive the input it will not operate does the door lock? However:
The attachment shows how to diagnose and repair a failed hall sensor, the usual cause of
an LE error code.

DO NOT replace the stator until the hall sensor has been tested. 98% of LE error codes are
caused by failed hall sensors.

[DD motor SVC check process ]

Pre Check
1) Gentle wash cycles, such as Perm Press, Delicates, Hand Wash, and Wool/Silk should only be used for
smaller loads. Because these cycles are more gentle in tumbling and spinning, putting too much in the
drum can register an issue with the motor. Remove items, reset unit and test with a Rinse/Spin cycle.
2) Don't replace the PCB when the hall sensor is replaced.
Check the hall sensor as shown in the new process.
O have a file I can send but can not upload here if you want it, contact me please put hall sensor in subject line. Thanks

You can turn the power on, and hit the spin speed button, and then start it. It should drain out.

If your still getting an LE error, and already have replaced the Hall sensor, it's most likely the Stator. If you know your date of purchase, this is most likely still under the 7 or 10 year warranty. Meaning LG pays for the part (over $100.00+),

SOURCE: I need to replace my hall sensor - LG WM0264H

I fixed this myself. I found an on-line LG service manual and bought the hall sensor (about $30). It took all of a half an hour to repair this myself. I read that too much soap and fabric softener will make the circuits on the mother board heat up and short out the hall sensor (gunk and resistance on the wash drum). It is running like a top again. The local parts store said to periodically run bleach and water through the soap, and softener despenser to help keep it clean.

Testimonial: "I finally got the balance sensor yesterday and installed it, and it fixed the problem! I would of installed the sensor alot sooner, but at repair clinic they have that part number listed as being a 'Humidity Sensor'. I couldn't understand why there would be a Humidity sensor in that particular spot, from experience it did seem to be a balance sensor, but like I said said it was a humidity sensor so I was hesitant to replace it at first. So I changed the Hall sensor and the shock absorbers first with no effect. i'm glad I got it fixed, because after messing with it for so long and all the stress it gave me, I was about to use it as target practice haha. thanks"

My lg wm0742hga front load washer machine over fill of water.

Hello Felipe;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

The LE error code stands for "Locked Motor Error." This is one of the more common error codes on LG washing machines. Ii is a fault condition. Read your manual where it explicitly tells you to use only High Efficiency (HE) detergent. Although, regular detergent is less expensive, using other than HE, you are going to continue to have problems. Such as premature drum bearing failure. This is an expensive repair.
In the LG washer, the LE error code is usually caused by the burned out hall effect sensor, Part Number: 6501KW2002A.

1.) Unplug your unit and remove the back cover.

Be absolutely certain that the HALL EFFECT SENSOR is installed correctly. Three white plastic tabs on the STATOR (motor) securely hold the sensor in the correct position. If any of the *three plastic tabs* were damaged during an attempt to remove the old sensor-this will require replacing the STATOR ASSY
Also, Check for any black marks on the wires or burns or broken wires.

How to locate a ball sensor in my lg washer

The Ball Sensor has nothing to do with a "LE" error.
A faulty Hall Effect Sensor or faulty Stator or faulty Main PCB are
suspects..You must remove the Rotor and then the Stator to get to
the Hall Sensor..

How can I make the water drain from my LG WM0532HW washer with an LE code. BTW- it's had the hall sensor and the main board replaced already.

If your still getting an LE error, and already have replaced the Hall sensor, it's most likely the Stator. If you know your date of purchase, this is most likely still under the 7 or 10 year warranty. Meaning LG pays for the part (over $100.00+),

Error code LE causes

This will cause the washer not to spin. This is most likely due to a bad Hall sensor, or the Stator assembly. You can replace the hall sensor, or the Stator, which comes with the Hall sensor.

If your husband has already replaced the Hall sensor, it's most likely going to be a Stator problem. You can Ohm the stator out, it should read between 5 and 15 ohm's. If not, then you need a new Stator assembly, which also comes with a new hall sensor, typically. These Stators fall under the 7 or 10 year direct drive warranty, if you have proper date of purchase paperwork and model+serial number.

LG Tromm washer is not working with getting LE message.

LE code means locked motor error. you need to check the Hall Sensor. unplug the power, remove the rear washer panel, locate the Hall sensor connector on the stator behind the rotor. you can test it with an OHM meter for failure. it may just be an unstable connection.

Replaced sensor on motor and ran find empty put cloths in washer runs for a bit then le code comes up help

LE means a locked motor error. sounds like you already replaced the hall sensor so the next thing to look at is the Stator Assembly it may have an open circuit.

LG Washer LE Error

Solved LE error for my WM1832CW by replacing Hall Sensor. Bought part 5016501KW2002A for $Cdn 26 at Sears parts store. Thanks to TC at for instructions:
1 Open rear panel. Take 17mm nut off (it's the only one)
2 Pull off what looks like a goofy hubcap (it's held by magnets)
3 Unscrew the six 10mm bolts and gently lower the coils
4 Remove and replace the Hall Sensor (plastic comb looking thing)5 Plug in the sensor and re-install the coils and cover.
30 minutes for me.
Test spin cycle if desired by following chart on page 19 of service manual at
(note lower models skip step 10 (heater test).
Hall Sensor Part labelled as K351 in diagram on page 41 of service manual.

LE code

LE error is a locked rotor you need to have your hall sensor on the stator or better yet just have the whole stator replaced which comes with the sensor on it (P.S. the stator is part of the motor and has a 5 year warranty)
