The problem is not just to roll over, be changed and separation pad. These two components change very easily and boxes that are delivered and indications for replacement.
These are the codes for parts:
Pad Assembly - Part Number: PA03289-0111
Pick Roller - Part Number: PA03289-0001
After replacement counters to be reset for each Pieces. Open the scanner properties.
Usually have to display a maintenance message on the computer display, such as: separation pad should be replaced.
If there is to scan any messages like that, you have to clean the sensors around the separation pad. They are round and are getting a little inside. Click on the blue button at the top of the ADF and open the lid.

Front Side Optical Alarm only generated when start command is received or when white level reference is checked (every 50 scans). CCD output must be above predetermined slice level when reading the white reference. Slice level is set in F/W and compared to the read range values. The read range is approximately pixel 120 to 4800. If CCD output does not reach slice level the AGC tries to adjust the output of the amplifier to exceed the slice level. If any portion of the read range is lower than slice then Optical Alarm is generated. Also, it can be generated by dirty optics or reference, bad lamp or CCD.
If "Front Side Optical Alarm" appeared, clean the glass (small and large one) of the flatbed and carrier unit.
If the issue persists, then check if CCD harness or CR cable is disconnected? Connect the connector.
If the issue persists, then replace Front lamp.
If the issue is not resolved, then replace the Control PCA or Carrier unit or Optical unit.

Does the scanner displays any error message on the scanner panel? Is there any TWAIN error message?
If paper jam occurs, U1 error will be displayed on the scanner panel and TWAIN driver will display " Paper jam the ADF (Code DS32002)" error message.
This error is detected when one of the followings occurs:
1) A document does not reach the TOP sensor while the scanner has transported the document about 250 mm to pick. (The scanner
performs retry operation.)
2) The trailing edge of a document does not reach the TOP sensor after the scanner transports the document by the length (L) below. (The document may have slipped on the rollers) Scan condition Transported length.
In order to assist you with your scanner issue, Please provide the issue details with error message.
If nothing is being displayed, then the issue could be due to failure in Pick Motor function or Pick Sensor malfunction.

Mechanical noises = mechanical failure. You will have to dismantle the scanner and inspect the pickup mechanism - the parts that move the paper sheets are defective: the movement of the motor isn't transmitted to the gripping pads, probably a gear is out of position or a linking pin has been sheared off.
If you can't fix them yourself then the unit is pretty much dead : these replacement parts aren't available anywhere, not even the repair shop of a dealer - the parts and the labor to install them would cost more than a new scanner.
But you could search for another defective scanner on which the pickup mechanism is in good working order then buy it and cannibalise it for those parts. Or you can search at repair shops for same.

This seems you've logged in to your PC as user. The clear option is sometimes not highlighted in user login. You need to login as Administrator to reset the count.
