Does not read on the mac

If the USB hard drive was formatted in NTFS on a PC then the MAC cannot read this hard drive.
If you format this hard drive on a PC in FAT32 file format then the MAC can exchange data between the MAC and the PC.
The MAC can read and write PC data to this hard drive.

External hard drive used on mac,how do i use it on pc?

You need to format this hard drive using your PC.
If the hard drive was formatted using the MAC then the PC won't see anything on the hard drive because the MAC uses a different file system that is not compatible with the PC.
BUT if you want to exchange files between the MAC and the PC then format the hard drive using the PC in FAT32 file system. The MAC can read and write to a FAT32 formatted hard drive.

My WD My Passport external Hard Drive ! TB formatted for Mac is not reading my files

A Windows PC computer will not read files on the WD hard drive that has been formatted on a MAC.
The fix.
Copy your photos onto the MAC computer then remove the WD hard drive and connect it to your Windows PC and format the WD hard drive in FAT32 file system.
After formatting has been completed remove the WD hard disk and connect it to the MAC computer. The MAC can read and write to a Windows FAT32 formated hard disk. You can now copy the photos from the MAC to the WD hard disk. When copying is complete, remove the WD hard drive and connect the WD hard drive to your Windows PC and you can now copy the photo from the WD hard disk to your Windows PC.

COMPUTER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE HARD DRIVE...HELP

Hello Sir, hi, If a PC does not recognize your external hard drive, you need first to check if the USB port is working, to check simply plug another USB device such as flash drive, if the port is fine, check to see if the USB port is a version 1.1 or a version 2.0, and look if your external hard drive is compatible or does it needs a DEVICE DRIVER, A USB 2.0 device may work on a USB 1.1, just reduced speed, and last try to see if your PC is the problem and not the Hard drive, have your Hard drive plug on another PC, visit a friend and check if you could use his or her PC to see if your hard drive is bad. Now if you find your hard drive is bad, its either the Interface circuit OR the physical hard disk itself. You can check your hard disk, simply disassemble the unit and gain access to the hard disk. either SATA or IDE, plain Hard disk plug it on your PC. see if you can access the disk. If yes back up your files. your Interface circuit at this point is bad. If your hard drive is bad, buy a new hard drive, as your replacement. keep me posted

I split my hard drive so my mac can get it but know my pc wont get it

You could invest in a program called MACDRIVE that allows PC's to see mac formatted drives.

Otherwise I would format it as a PC drive only using the FAT 32 sysytem that AFAIK macs can also still see.

I want to read the files of my old Hard drive?

ok you have a pc. now, plug the IDE connector to your old hard disk and plug the power connector also. Now, you have 2 hard disks. Your old hard disk must be plugged into the secondary IDE slot. Dont touch anything with your original hard disk. Just add your old hard disk to your PC through the secondary IDE slot and using IDE cable. When your Windows OS opens, you will see a new Hard Drive when you open My Computer. It could be Drive E, F or G
