Question about Hoover HDC6 Electric Dryer

Drum will not rotate

The drum will not turn. If I give it a small push, it goes, but does not restart on its own. How do I get into the drive wheel to check what the problem is?

Why is my divinci 6030 receiver making loud rumble noise when I push the power on in the back of unit. I have nothing hooked up to it.

A loose or worn BELT can make funny noises

Or the idler pulley that puts tension on the dryer drum drive belt could be worn out. If the pulley is bad we recommend also replacing the belt.

The glides on drum worn and making metal to metal contact.

The drum slides or glides support the front of the drum. As the drum rotates over the years, the glides wear out and then the dryer makes noise. Replace all of the glides as a set if they are worn out.

Sometimes an item can get stuck inbetween the drum and the housing and scrape and grind making funny noises, things like coins, bra wire, nails, hair pins, etc sometimes u can just remove the cabinet and observe by turning the drum by hand or looking for scratch or scrape marks on housing.

The blower:

Clumps of lint, socks, and other small articles of clothing can get past the lint filter and into the blower wheel. If the dryer makes noise, and the noise seems to be at a very fast pace, there might be something caught in the blower wheel. In addition, the blower wheel sleeve might be worn out, allowing the blower wheel to wobble on the motor shaft. If this happens, replace the blower wheel.

The bearings:

The drum bearing supports the rear of the dryer drum. If the dryer makes noise this bearing might be worn out. Replace the bearing if it is worn out. Do not lubricate the bearing, the lubrication will attract lint and dirt and accelerate the wearing process.

The bearings TEST by moving drum by hand u may be able to feel loose or rough movement. And listen to sounds when turning it.

The drum rollers or castors:

It is very common for dryer drum rollers to wear out. If the dryer makes noise, particularly a loud rumbling noise, one or more of the rollers may be worn out. After removing the drum from the dryer, inspect the rollers.

Check for cracks, dryness, or damage and not engaging drum properly. Sometimes u can use high density LITHIUM BASE gear grease to re oil/grease them.

Drum squeaks on rotation. can drum be lubed?

would not lube the drum but the two small wheels that the drum rotates on sometimes their "axles" get dry and rusty and will squeak. Put some antisieze on them and see if the noise goes away.

How do I remove the brake drums? I thought it would just slide off.

That would be so easy. No you have to loosen the brake shoes or back them off. On the brake drum or on the brake backing plate will be an access port. You will find a small rubber plug if it is on the back plate. Remove the plug and get a bright flashlight to see inside. You will see the adjustment wheel, On the front side of the wheel is a lock arm to hold the arm in place or to keep it from backing off as you drive. You will need 2 tools, a hook to stick in and push the arm away from the wheel. Then an adjustment pry bar to rotate the adjustment wheel. Once you have some clearance between the shoes and the drum, you can smack the drum with a hammer a few times to bust any rust and she should come off. Make sure the EM: brake is off. Hope this helps FixYa up.

Runs for about 5 minutes and then shuts off

You might have a motor failing. Before you order parts, you need to check some things. Disconnect the electrical power from the dryer. Two spring clips hold the top down on your dryer. Insert a putty knife or a small screwdriver into the crack between the cabinet and the top. About 2-3 inches in from each side is a spring clip. Push in on the clips and they will release the top from the cabinet. Lift the top and let it rest against the wall behind the dryer.

Rotate the drum slowly by hand and listen and feel for hard places. The drum should turn smoothly and fairly easily. You will be turning the motor and the blower wheel as you rotate the drum and if something is inside the blower housing you should hear it rubbing or moving around.

If nothing is wrong in the blower wheel or the drum bearings, the motor will be your problem.

1996 f150 4x4 -can't get the rear drum off to get to the breaks

Try these:
1. Most of the current shoe/drum systems on the rears have self-adjusters that are designed to advance the adjuster wheel when you back up briskly and slam on the brakes. You may need to push the flat metal self-adjuster tab out of the way of the starred adjust wheel. If you don't you can be only pushing on it so far and then it's just going to spring back.
Take a flashlight and look closely in the adjuster hole, see if you can find the metal tab. It will be on the far side away from the adjuster hole.
Push the tab farther away from the star wheel and then stick the adjuster tool in on the star wheel and give it another try.

2.You may be tightening the shoes into the drum instead of loosening them. Try turning the adjuster in the other direction.

3. Get some spray lube/ with a small tube to attach to the spray head.
Stick the spray tube in the adjuster hole and spray as much as you can of the adjuster.

Hope this gets the drums off for you...please let me know how it goes.

Front loader washer machine not rotating.

Fisrt, see if you can rotate it by hand, BOTH directions. It should have some resistance. If you can spin it and when you stop pushing it will turn a full turn, your drum belt is too loose. If the belt is good and tight, it will spin less than one half rotation, there is probably something blocking one of the wheels that the drum rides on.

How do i get back brake drums off of a 1992 buick lesabre?

try hitting the face of the drum with a large hammer until free from hub rotating the drum as you go. you may have to de-adjust the rear shoes once the drum is free from hub start by removing the oval shaped rubber plug for the adjustment window on the backing plate with a flat head srewdriver or brake adjusting tool and a small pick to push the anti reverese lever back rotate the star wheel oposit of the audible cliking. clicking is tightening once de-adjusted enough rotate and pull the drum off.

Water Wheel won't keep turning

This humifier has a black drive wheel and a white idler wheel. On mine, the idler wheel froze up which caused the drive wheel to damage itself trying to turn the drum. First, free up the idler wheel and replace the shaft it rotates on. The idler wheel is still available but you'll have to fabricate the shaft using a machine screw and hollow shaft from your local hardware store. When the idler wheel turns freely, the drive wheel (if still in decent shape) can do its job of turning the drum. If not, you can replace the drive wheel (also still available). I recently put a small rubber band in the groove of the drive wheel and it enabled it to get the necessary grip on the drum.

It's getting harder and harder to keep these wonderful Bemis water Wheel humidifiers alive as the years go by. I wish they still made them because no other humidifier comes close.
