Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Automatic turntable adjustments

I recently bought a used Onkyo CP1055f turntable. While in overall good shape, the automatic queuing function seems out of adjustment. When I hit play, the arm rotates over the platter 1-2 mm too far. The needle is dropping in the grooves of the first track rather than on the rim of the record. How does one adjust the trim settings on the automatic queue?

fixed the issue. Underneat the tonearm there is a semicircular plastic piece lined on the outside with rubber. This disc is held in place by a small phillips machine screw. This disc has cutouts for the photodiodes to time automatic functions. By rotating the disk slightly counter clockwise a very small amount (this was a touchy adjustment requiring several attempts), I was able to fix the issue.

If your needle just started to skip across the LP, then that means your stylus is damaged/worn and needs to be replaced. It's very hard to see the diamond tip on the stylus, and it might not even be there at all. So checking it might not yield any results. This is what happens when the needle is worn. It will skip across the record.

SOURCE: Arm does not track properly but skips across records

Just guessing, but it sounds like you haven't counterbalanced your tone arm.  When a tone arm skips, it's usually because there's too much counter weight on the rear of the tone arm.  You want between 3-5 grams, but first you have to calibrate your tone arm (balance it so you know where zero is).  If you don't know how to do this, refer to the Ion directions called "Tonearm Setup" in the instructions.

SOURCE: Cannot adjust speed on a vintage Technics SL-B30 Turntable

More than likely it is a faulty drive IC (Integrated Circuit). If so, your out of luck, because most parts for this unit are discontinued, with the exception of the belt.

There really isn't much else you can do. Will probably cost too much to repair, if you can find someone who can repair it.

Sorry couldn't be of much more help.

Make shure that is a 50Hz turntable. If you connect a 60 Hz turntable in a 50 Hz system, the result is aprox 28 RPM in the 33 RPM position/

How to hookup a sony turntable to a Onkyo TX-sr605

Hi
I have managed to find a manual for your Onkyo machine. It is in pdf format so can be saved to your computer for future reference. It can be obtained here:
http://www.uk.onkyo.com/downloads/1/1/7/3/6/21507518_65197b9e73.pdf
and by using the Adobe Acrobat Reader search function with "turntable" as the search term, I found diagrams on page 36 which clearly showed how to connect various types of turntable.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Switches and other controls that permit the user to adjust the speed on the turntable often become erratic due to oxidation of the metal contacts contained therein. Dust and smoke add to the problem. Cleaning the controls with quality electronics-type contact cleaners usually gives years of happy service. The job is best left to someone familiar with the complete assembly since other finite adjustment potentiometers are often employed and located on the internal circuit board.

If the receiver doesn't have a function specifically named PHONO, yes. Very few AVR's have phono preamps. They're not expensive. I'd check eBay.

I have the same problem with mine! If i budge the arm by pushing it to the left a bit, it seems to catch. i think the motor on mine is worn out and cannot get started on its own, but with help, it will slowly move on its own to the edge of the vinyl and drop into playing position. If that doesnt work for you, you might need to clean the belt for the arm motor, or buy a new motor.
