If you can watch the icemaker run through it's cycle, with the door open of course, try and determine where it might be hanging up.

I 'trimmed' part of the replacement kit installed by our Electrolux repair technician where it was hanging up with the motorized parts, about 5 months ago, and it began completing it's full ice-making cycle once again.

SOURCE: icemaker makes ice; door dispenser cranks, but no ice dispensed

sounds like either the dispenser motor is bad or the dispenser yoke is stripped. remove the bucket from the freezer. you will see a u shaped yoke in the rear of the disp area. this should be fairly hard to turn by hand if it turns easily then the motor gears are bad if the yoke slips on the motor shaft then you have a stripped yoke. hope that helps. peyton...

SOURCE: whirlpool side by side refrigerator - grinding noise from icemaker

That would likely be the ice maker "motor module". They are notorious for failing. The plastic gear on the front pulls away from the contact springs from ear tab failure, etc. It's an easy fix to replace the whole module (about $70 bucks). See the diagram here. http://www.partselect.com/Schematics/Whirlpool/THIERSZO.gif

SOURCE: Kitchenaid side x side model#ksrp22fnss00

Bottom right hand rear of unit has valves which allow water to flow to ice cube trays. Possible cause, dirt in line or valve stuck closed. Disconnect power from unit, hook up a small 12 volt transfomer and force the valve to open and close a few times. Saved a bundle this way myself.

SOURCE: my whirlpool aide by side fridge icemaker is making buzzing or humming noise

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You said, your ice maker is making a buzzing or humming noise ice maker isn't making much ice. . fridge is about 2 1/2 years old.

This sounds like a clogged water line or a electrical short !
I would get service rather than take a chance on electrical fire.
Or burn up the circuit in the ice maker.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to advise you.

SOURCE: Icemaker is not making ice

check the fill tube on the ice maker to see if its frozen upo. if it is you are going to need a new solinoid valve due to it leaking thru the valve and freezing up.

Icemaker rakes not moving, though it is in the cycle and making a lound humm, grinding type sound (similar to when it does its normal ice rake cycle.

Normally, icemakers make very little noise. If it is in the middle of a harvest cycle and will not complete the cycle, remove the icemaker and look to see if an object some how fell into the ice cube mold area, preventing the rake from turning. If there is no obstuction, you will have to buy a replacement icemaker, as there are no replacement parts available. NOTE: Do not leave the icemaker in your freezer in the middle of a cycle for extended periods, as the mold heater would be "on" and adding heat to your freezer section the entire time, causing your refrigerator to work harder than normal, and costing more to run.

Ice maker quit water line works intermittingly

icemaker quite? hire a new icemaker. industry joke sorry.
First things first, is it cooling ok? if yes then proceed.
im assuming it stopped making ice altogether, and not a matter of making ice but not dispensing.

If your ice bucket is located in the door itself, you have an electric eye icemaker system, which electronically determines if the bucket is full or not. this electric eye system, located on both side walls of freezer, consist of a transmitter board and a receiver board. you could have a problem with these boards, the icemaker itself, a bad water valve, or depending on the model year, a icemaker fill line that can get clogged with ice, but due to a faulty design, a fill tube heater must be installed.

if your bucket is not in the door, but located directly beneath the icemaker, then disregard the electric eye system info and the fill tube heater info as well.

GE side-by-side: freezer making grinding noise. Husband unplugged and removed icemaker. What was the problem and can I fix it myself?

did it sound like someone snoring in your freezer? that is your icemaker trying to eject cubes, and that noise in and of itself, is nothing to be worried about, that is normal. however, if your icemaker was failing to produce ice, when your husband removed the icemaker, was it near overflowing with ice, or did it look like it just had what would be a normal amount, i.e., the ice in the mold was little more than helfway. if it seemed like it was a normal amount of ice, then the heater on the bottom of the icemaker failed, replace the icemaker. if you had an abundance of ice in the icemaker, you may have a problem with either your water vavle solenoid not closing completely, or the icemaker motor itself is slow, causing the valve to be open too long. without checking it personally, i cant advise either way

Whirlpool Gold Model GS5SHAXNL 00 makes loud grinding noise about every 40 minutes

I would check your ice maker. You can shut it off by slidding the control on the right hand side of the freezer wall. If the noise quits you need to repair the icemaker. In door ice has had some problem with their icemakers. If that is it they make a kit part #8201515 that will fix it.

Ice Maker will not release the frozen ice cubes from tray

The icemaker use an avaporator system with an heatinc coil and a fan to release cubes.

In your case either the heating coil or the fan in the icemaker must be replaced.

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.
