Question about GE 27881 Phone

Open Question

Date & Time Get Defaulting To 12:00 AM, 1 incomming call

My phone worked fine for a number of years, however I noticed now that every time a call comes in the date defaults back to 12:00 AM. I can set the date and time in the programming, but as soon as a call comes in (do get caller ID) it reverts back to 12:00 AM. I have the default setting on (2). If I set on (1) I don't get my outgoing voice announcement, rather just the short message that came with the phone.

I have 27996 phones too. I lost my manual. Here is the website to get the manual. www.thomsonnetwork.com At the bottom type in 27996 and it will bring up a pdf file that you can download to your computer. Here are the directions for your problem. Display Language 1. Press the FLASH/program button until 1ENG 2FRA 3ESP shows in the display. 2. Use the CID/VOL (left or right arrow) button or the handset number pad to select 1 (English), 2 (French), or 3 (Spanish). The default setting is ?1ENG?. 3. Press the FLASH/program button to confirm and to advance to the next menu feature.

How do I reset my date & time for Panasonic kxtga470

The KX-TGA470 handset works with several models of Panasonic cordless phone base units. Press Menu and then press #. Next press 1 0 1 . (Alternatively use the arrow keys to navigate to find Initial Settings and then Set date and time after pressing Menu.) If you need to change the date, type in the date as three sets of two digit numbers (month, day and year). Then press OK. Next type in the time. Press OK and then select AM/PM with the arrow keys if you are using 12-hour time. Finally chose Save followed by Off.

The manual for the base describes setting the date and time. See http://panasonic.ca/viewing/ALL/KX-TG4711C/OI/TG4711C_PNQX5094ZA/TG4711C_PNQX5094ZA.pdf on page 15.

I hope this helps.

I would like to change the number of rings before answering machine picks up. How do I do that? I have a panasonic cordless dect 6.0 phone

I had the same problem but couldn't figure it out either ..... UNTIL, I changed the date and time (which was very old, actually Sept/2007) to the current date, year, time, am/pm, etc.

After I changed the date, time, year, etc. my phone went back to its normal default of 3 or 4 rings & then the answering message plays.

Hope this helps!

I had a airtel number but i changed the operator to vodafone by mnp but i cant receve a incoming call from air tel ?

If you can make an out going call, but not receive incoming calls, the problem is not with your phone, its with your new carrier. Make sure you can make an out going call..

Next, we have to make sure your getting the right cell number. Dial 1-800-444-4444 from your cellphone. You will get a digitized voice reciting the phone number actually installed on your phone.

If the number given DOES NOT MATCH ( unlikely ) call your new carrier, identify your account and name/address with them. Verify the number you WANT to have with them, then tell then the number they actually sent to your phone.

If the number given DOES MATCH ( more likely ) than your number has not been ported over to your new carrier. The ability to keep your same number when you switch carriers is called Local Number Portability, or LNP.

The Public Switched Telephone Network "points" any incoming calls, regardless of their source, to your chosen carrier. Once your carrier receives your incoming call, it is routed through their switching centers to your local central office, where the ring pulse ( and the call) are placed on your individual circuit, be it a land line, or VO-IP.

That all works until you change carriers. Your new carrier must request your old carrier to release, or " port over " that number from the old to the new carrier. This must be set up in advance.Your old carrier gives your new carrier a specific date and time they will no longer handle any more incoming calls. This is called your LNP date. This is done within a day or so of your order. The new carrier creates a new circuit for you, with your old number, before their LNP date. This allows them to test your new circuit. If you bought a new phone, you may have had your old and new phones both working, but, until your LNP date, only your old phone would ring when called.

Now, on your LNP date, your new carrier is supposed to get a " hand-off " from the old carrier. This tells the PSTN to begin " pointing " incoming calls to that new carrier. Now, it is supposed to be seamless, the new carrier is supposed to have everything ready by the LNP date and time, so the switch can be "thrown", then your new carrier gets all your incoming calls from that moment forward. If your new carrier didn't completely port over your LNP number, or if your old carrier didn't release it, you are left with the problem you have described.

The solution is to call your NEW carrier. Even if your line isn't working right, only your new carrier can make the necessary changes to your line. Your old carrier wont deal with you, your new carrier must check with them over any porting issues coming FROM your old carrier. In any event, the solution is the same, you must call your new carrier to resolve this.

Now, all this depends on your ability to make OUTGOING calls right now. If so, this proves your phone or equipment ( if VOIP) is NOT the source of the trouble. Especially after you verify that you are indeed receiving the correct 10 digit cellphone number. Remember, even though it's a cellphone, you have to be able to receive incoming calls from regular landlines. Which means you must be tied in to the PSTN ( Public Switched Telephone Network).

This is actually a fairly common problem. The solution is routine, when I was a conversion technician, I would solve problems like this about 3 or 4 times a week, out of 25 or so service calls in the same week.

My office has the Prostar 816 phone and the manual is not detailed at all.. I needed to know how to change the time (due to time change) Our manual says #55 etc etc... Help me please!

To change the time on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down, enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
1) enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming2.gif)
2) enter in #55 the screen should say YYMMDDWHHMM
3) enter in the year, month, day, day of the week, hours and minutes(the day of the week values are 1= mon. 2= tues. etc.)
press # when finished.

Time & Date

1. To open the USER SETTINGS MENU. Open all three of the One-touch speed dialing panels. Then press the button labeled "Data Registration".
2. Press the "SET" button 2 times until you see:
USER SETTINGS - 1. DATE & TIME.
3. To open the DATE & TIME Menu. Press SET.
Use the buttons on the numeric keypad to enter the current month, day, year and current time. Just enter the new numbers over the old numbers.
To set the year, enter 08, 09, etc.
Use the 24-hours format to enter the time (e.g. 1:00 p.m. would be entered as 13:00)
You can also use the cursor buttons to move the cursor without changing a number entry.
To restore previous entry, press CLEAR.
Press SET to "lock in" the Date and Time.

I noticed that the time is wrong in my incoming text messages.

Dear FixYa Team,

Thank you for your response to my query.

I have already fixed the problem before I got your email.

This is what I did: I turned the cell phone off and reinserted the SIM card, set the right time in the Settings for Date & Time, changed the time zone to GMT +8 (our country's location), maintained the O for Daylight Savings, saved the changes, then selected "On" for "Auto-update of date and time". That solved the whole problem!

Anyway, thank you for your email. God bless.
