the electronic board that sits behind the on off switch and controls is blown out probably lightening or power spikes I have replaced that piece a couple of times on both of our 229 coffee makers..We are in Colorado and lightening kills a lot of our electronics.....I cannot find that replacement part any more ...used to find it on smallaplliances.com not a good answer, but what is going on with your Krups we have had two 229's for over 14 years,,so I have replaced almost every part in them...
Hi john you need to replace circuit board that has timer and auto shut-off I have same problem krups doesn't think it is a safety issue because the coffee maker has a thermal switch. But I still think it is. Also if you are not carefull when you fill with water it will staem back in your face!
