Actually the problem is the same as with the previous one, except it has to do with recognition of a SATA HDD. I have very little experience with SATA HDD's, but if you can figure out much more complicated situations figuring SATA HDD should not that much of a trouble. I would like to make a comment and if I am misconstrued, then I beg you pardon. When I cam to the USA and attended Valparaiso University, Indiana, we had an instructor, who taught us mobile communications, police radio and the such; remember that there were no cellular telephones in 1956-57. If you went to his class without your book, he would ask you to go to the dorm or home and pick it up. You also got a bad mark for going to war without armaments, as he put it. He was a practical man, a Ham (radio amateur). That man had the ability to pass information from his head to our heads with unbelievable accuracy, speed and zero loss of data. He wore boots, mingled with the students and was most cordial as long as we had the necessary books and our notebooks with us. It is an inconvenience, but this is what life is about....

I have a MSI K9MM-V(MS-7312) mother board installed running on MS XP Professional, I wanted to temporarily boot from my CD/DVD drive how do I accomplish this?

Hi,
Just go to bios setup, click "delete" or "F2" when the system started to boot up, go to boot set up and select "cd rom drive" first boot, save on exit. It restart w/ the cd rom drive first.
Hope that helps you out.

SATA 2 HDD

I think, one possible way is to manually force sata 2 (there is no such thing as sata 2) to sata 1 by using a jumper for the hard drive. For exact details, please consult the sticker on the hdd or contact the hdd manufacturer for firmware updates. And please report back, especially if it's a success. (Damn, the VT8237)

Anyway, if your bios dosent detect the driver u probably need to update the bios drivers.
Go to MSI site:
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=158

Instal LIVE UPDATE and let msi check you computer for laterst drivers u need to instal

Windows won't load or instal

Freezing of computers occur mostly due to shortage of RAM. But in ur case, 1GB is quite enough for XP. Since ur computer is freezing b4 even starting up, thus it could be a problem of disk drives.check if more than 1 drive have been alloted MASTER (Primary) or otherwise same priority. If u have more than 1 HDD, then the one in which the Opering System is installed should be given the Master Primary and the other as Cable select/slave. Likewise do it for the CD/DVD ROM or RAM (the CD/DVD RAM should be alloted the master and ROM as the slave). It can be done by the JUMPERs on the back of the Drives. See the exact setup on the drive surface.
