SOURCE: fregerator not cooling

check out the refrierator defrost sensor for the refrigerator side. the connection may not be making a good contact. open up the refrigerator evap section and behind the lights for the crisper is the connections. be carefull because the evap may be frozen up and the styrofoam wil break if its frozen up. thaw it out first with a shop vac blowing air out.

Hi!
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
It does a lot of clicking (trying to start over and over again)
If thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
I use part no ERP410 POWER START RELAY, CAPACITOR AND OVERLOAD all in one. (110 v)

SOURCE: Samsung rf265abpn ice forming behind Fresh food

Hi Mike,
You could have an outside airleak which would let in warm moist air into the freezer.OR the condensate drain tube is plugged up or frozen up. thats the drain tube that drains the melted ice from the freezer OR the condenser fan located buy the compressor is not running. Check all drain tubes and drain channels for clo-
ging or freeze-up due to improper and complete draining.

several issues can cause this problem.
1st. not enough air circulating the evaporator coil meaning dirt filters or obstruction.
2nd. low refrigerant charge.
3rd. the out side tempurature maybe to cold, some units don't funtion well in cold climites.

Kenmore AC, no cold air

If the evaporator tube is iced up entering the coil and cool to warm leaving the evaporator, that would indicate low on refrigerant or a restriction. If it is iced up entering and leaving the evaporator, then, it could be low on refrigerant, blower not running at proper speed, dirty evaporator coil or filter.
You need to check the suction and head pressure and temperature to determine problem for sure.

1.5 ton ac. It is getting cold near the outlet but cold air is not blowing out. Instead pieces of ice are sometimes coming out. How to troubleshoot?

Is the fan running? If the fan is running you should check your filter. If it isn't running then you should check the capacitor for the fan and the fan motor. Also make sure the evaporator coil is clean. If all of this is good then get the refrigerant charge checked.

Ice is forming on coil fins

Either your coil is dirty or filter is dirty. Worst case your low on freon which would make a coil freeze. But freon doesn't evaporate if your low there must be a slow leak.

Not cooling properly. dismounting the front panel showed formation of ice on ac tubes

ice forming on the evaporator coil (you called it ac tubes) is a common sign of 'low' air flow across the coil.

The evaporator coil will 'ice' if the air flow is restricted.

This usually happens when the filter and or coil becomes dirty.

If the filter is changed often (when dirty) then the chances of the coil becoming dirty are reduced.

In any event - you must have a 'clean' filter and a clean coil.

The filter is usually made to be 'washed out,' and the coil can be cleaned with a wrag - or brush of some sort.

The goal is to make sure the filter and coil are both clean.

Other things can cause a coil to 'ice,' but are less likely.

a) low on refrigerant - not likely because the system is 'sealed' and the chances of losing gas are remote unless it's an older AC and has been 'opened' in the past - which improves the chances of a leak.

b) a problem with the fan motor - i.e. cutting off and then back on - or - not running as fast (both will reduce the air flow) as it should because of internal problems.

c) in a room with a 'low' load - i.e. the outside temp is low and the room is cool - thus causing a low load situation. This too is not likely as most AC's are being run because it's hot in the room.

Bottom line - is I would make sure my filter and evaporator coil are both clean and unrestricted.

good luck!

I have purchase samsung Ac from Rathna Fanhouse -Chennai -

Assuming the ice is on the front of the unit it's a good bet that your inlet filter is dirty/clogged and is restricting the air over your evaporator coil. The first thing you need to do is turn off the unit and let the ice melt; in other words - 'defrost the AC.'

I would then try cleaning the filter (usually just needs to be washed out) but I'm betting you will need to clean the evaporator coil too.

Cleaning the evap coil is not that difficult, sometimes it can be as easy as pulling a 'sheet' of matted hair/wet dirt from the front of the evap coil.

Often you will need to use a brush of some sort and clean the coil. The object is to get the evap coil clear of all dirt so that air can flow easily through the coil.

good luck!

1.5T Voltas Vetris window AC. Ice formation

I think the more likely problem is that the unit is slightly short of gas\ refrigerant, which is a common cause of icing up evaporator coils and this sound you describe. First check that the air filter is clean. Another cause could be the defrost sensor is faulty, but I would think not. Some ice isn't actually a bad thing, but quite common as long as it doesn't form over too much of the coil, or get too thick.

Ice on the coil fins of my Window AC unit......

set your unit to fan mode only, to thaw the ice, after the ice melts, look at your evaporator coil, see if its dirty, if its dirty, then you might just need a good cleaning. if the coil is clean, look at your thermostat setting. it should not be all the way cold. the compressor would run continously and it would freeze the coil. third, the refrigerant system could be partially clogged up or it lacks refrigerant. these problems initiate freezing of the coil.
