Shuts down and gives me failure E 1 on the card and will not start

E1 = The air filters need cleaning (after 720 Hours use)
It will shut down until you clean the filters & reset the E1 alarm code.
To do this you need to:
Pull the Air Con appliance lead out of the power outlet in the wall.
Remove & Clean the air filters & then put the cleaned filters back in machine
Before plugging back in you Push & Hold the Power button on the Unit
THEN while holding the power button you PLUG the lead back into the wall.
Keep Holding the power button until you hear the unit emit a beep (hold for approx 5 secs)
Then disconnect the power supply lead again.
Then Plug it back in again & turn on
It should be cleared & working well.
Good luck

Dell Inspiron 5720

F-8 is the key, Try to "cold start" the computer, meaning remove the power plug from wall outlet or uplug from computer, remove battery, now replace battery and plug computer into wall outlet. Push the on button while "TAPPING" the F-8 key repeatedly Tap, tap, tap, until you hear a beep or it load the black menu with safe mode options. IF THAT DOES NOT WORK: shut down the laptop, remove AC supply, remove battery. Plug the AC power back in,DO NOT INSTALL BATTERY, Start the machine, without battery installed, and tap F-8 repeatedly. If it still fails, PULL THE PLUG OUT OF THE WALL OUTLET WHILE THE COMPUTER IS STILL RUNNING. NOW PLUG THE LAPTOP BACK INTO THE WALL AND START, THAT SHOULD TAKE YOU TO A BLACK PAGE WITH WHITE SCRIPT WITH OPTIONS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

I changed the power supply on my acer aspire e700 and it beeps continuosly non stop with no picture on screen, the last power supply blew. it had a graphics card when i bought it but it stopped working so...

You may have more problems than just he power supply from when the old power supply went out. The mainboard could be bad.

Make sure it's unplugged from power from the wall, then check that the memory is seated correctly. Check for anything else that may be out of place or not fully connected.

There are also different beep codes for different errors. They've mostly been standardized, but may vary by mainboard as well. Here's a link to common POST beep codes and their meanings:

can you be a little more specific as to symptoms? any lights come on? do you get any beeps? are you plugged into a power strip? have you tried a different outlet, or cord? it doesn't turn on is very vague, and doesn't really tell us anything :) please be more specific

How do I check power supply?

what do you mean the cable that plugs in the back of the console or the internal power supply

to check the power cable..
1. unplug power cable from wall and console
2. get a multimeter and put the settings to continuity (when it beeps when its connected)
3. connect one side to one of the pins in the plug and the other side in one of the 3 holes on the other side only one should beep at a time

also i highly doubt that the power cable is damaged

Was using the laptop (dv6426us) and it just cut off. Was plugged into outlet with power supply, no warning messages prior to that. Now it will not power on at all, no lights, no beeps, nothing. If I unplug...

First, measure the voltage coming out of the power supply. If it is good (specs will be on the power brick itself.) then this sounds like a short on the motherboard. To eliminate all else, remove anything that is removable (hard drive, CD/DVD and RAM). Leave the battery out also. Plug in the power supply and see if it beeps. If not, you have a bad motherboard. If it does beep, replace the ram. At that point, you should be able to see POST. If you get nothing, it is the ram. Keep adding until the problem resurfaces. The last item added is the culprit.
Good luck.

PC won't wake up.

make power on,
see the SMPS fan from back side in CPU, if its not working, mean you have problem in SMPS or in power supply cable. Try another power supply, also make sure that socket on wall is right and the current is available there.

If your SMPS is working then try to hear beep from CPU after booting, there must be a ok beep, if no beep, then it means there might be problem in your CPU.

Thanks
Iqbal
