Can I add salt and run new saltwater system?? Will it clea it??

if your asking will a new salt system clean my pool from a preseason condition , well no not really , salt systems are for maintaining a healthy pool water thru the season , see they use the salt ions to make chlorine , so I guess technically yes but it would take ten times longer to do it and by then the salt would be all used up (converted) , its much easier to use common pool chemicals to "start up" the pool then after a healthy chemistry is achieved then switch over to salt system , and even after u switch always keep an eye on your water chemistry(testing ) and your never will be surprised by an upset !!

The water is getting cloudy and the sides of the pool are slimy

If your pool water is clowdy and slimy then it is about to turn green. What you need to do first is shock the pool to recommended dose to start killing the algae.
The most common error users make in managing a salt water pool besides not having salt in the pool has no stabilizer in it. This is a chemical that has an affinity for chlorine ions and if it is not there the chlorine can be disipated in a few hours when the sun hits it. Another name for it is Cyanuric Acid. It can be purchased in granular form at many pool supply stores or in a liquid form at Leslies. In order to get your pool blue you need to have the chemistry checked at a pool store or with a test kit (either liquid or strips). Don't buy everything a pool supply tells you to buy but start out with vinyl safe shock, stabilizer and salt. The pool store should be able to help you determine the dose. The following is what I would do:
1. Make sure salt is at the recommended concentration.
2. Shock the pool to recommended dose to start killing the algae.
3. Place the recomended dose of stabilizer in the pool.
4. Make sure pump and filter are working properly.
5. Check the pool chemistry on a daily basis until it is ready for swimming.
6. Check the chemistry on a weekly basis and clean the pool and equipment according to the pool instructions.

The water in the electrolytic cell is green? Do I need to clean it?

I assume from your comment about having green water in you electrolytic cell that maybe you don't have it connected to a pool yet or the pool water is green also. Anyway, if you are just starting your system and there is green water in the electrolyic cell then pore it out and when you place it into operation the pool water will clean it out. If the electrolyic cell is working the most overlooked cause for green water besides not having salt in the pool is it has no stabilizer in it. This is a chemical that has an affinity for chlorine ions and if it is not there the chlorine can be disipated in a few hours when the sun hits it. Another name for it is Cyanuric Acid. 6. Check the chemistry on a weekly basis and clean the pool and equipment according to the pool instructions.

How to I bring up my chlorine levels with my salt water generator? All other levels are in range. I have added the recommended amount of salt (310 lbs) for my pool size (5000 gallons). My pool was green...

You can cloud your water by adding chemicals that are incompatible. You will cloud the water if you simultaneously add a water clarifier and a chemical to inhibit the buildup of lime scale. You will cloud it if you simultaneously add chlorine and scale inhibitor. You will also cloud your water if you simultaneously add soda ash and a chemical to increase the hardness of the waterResources recommends sodium hypo, lithium hypo, dichlor or calcium hypo to superchlorinate water until it contains 10 parts per million (PPM) of free chlorine.

Why does my heating elements burns out every two to three weeks...

The most common cause of heating elements failing are:

1: bad water chemistry. If you water chemistry is not within nominal ranges
@ 2-3 ppm sanitizer
@ 7.4-7.6 pH
@ 70-120 alkalinity
@ 250-350 calcium

Then it has the ability to litteraly eat through metal, which the elements are.

2: Hight water flow. If you are forcing too much water through the heater (every heater manual states maximum flow rates) then it will strip the metal from the element ruining it in short order.

3. Electrolosis. If the heater, pump, and anthing else metal on your pool is not bonded with bare solid 6 guage wiring, then electrolosis is taking place and eating anything metal that the water comes into contact with..

Note: If you have a saltwater spa/pool , this would be a big contributer to your problems, both from the water chemistry part, but especially on the electrolosis.

Water coming out of heating element. How to fix?

If it is coming out of the heat exchanger you could have a big problem. You want to remove the top of the heater to find exactly where the leak is. If it is pinholes in the exchanger from a salt system or bad chemistry you may need to replace the exchanger. It could also be from a gasket on the sides of the exchanger. Remove the tops and sides of the heater until you find exactly where the leak is.

Salt water running out of machine

Check the silver bullet softener canister, it might have been installed backwards or someone was charging the crystals and did not move the knobs in the correct way. Machine will have to be flushed a few times and softener needs to be charged again.
