I can't copy or download photos from my Dell Inspiron B130 hard drive to a DVD+R. Should I format the DVD+R disc first? I'm a senior citizen and I'm trying to learn how to do this. Thank you! Jane

If you have Sonic or Roxio burning software installed, you can use that application and it should be able to guide you in how to burn a DVD
Essentially open the program (Sonic and Roxio are now the same company so the tool works pretty much the same regardless of what it is called)
once open, you select the type of disk you want to make (Data) then select your the pictures in the right pane, then click burn, the tool should do the rest

Why does my sonic now not let me record DVD's?

if you are trying to copy dvds that are copyright protected the program knows that and won't let you
there is also a compression issue you have to use a large volume disk to copy some /most movies over 4.7 gig

heres what you do go to dvd-hd decrypter and down load the free version then go to dvd shrink and down load that program this will allow you to decrypt and to shrink you dvd,s to the 4.7 gig
then you can copy them

Downloading a programn

If you have a DVD burner in your system, you probably have software that will allow you to burn disks already installed on your machine. The most common programs are Roxio, Sonic or Nero. I haven't used the Roxio software for a long time (since version 3), so I don't know how much as changed in its use. With Sonic or Nero, you just tell it what kind of disk you want to burn (for a program or data file, select data disc). Then add the files you would like to burn to the disk and click on the burn button. A few minutes later you will have a copy of your program burned onto the disk.

If for some reason you do not have any third-party burning software installed on your computer, you can insert a blank CD or DVD into the drive and when the autoplay options appear, select the option for having Windows prep the disk to burn files to it. Or you can even use Windows Media Player to do this too, but you would need to go into open up the Burn menu and select the Data CD or DVD option (instead of Audio CD).

Hope this helps!

Sonic MyDVD - not enough disc space

well, sonic dvd creates temporary files. I noticed it doesnt delete those files. they are somewhere in documents & Settings\(user)\
i can't seem to recall the exact place but its either under Application data or Local Settings\
you can check the disk size for these two folders and or the size for sonic folder in these two. would take few clicks and im sure you will reach there.
sorry for the partial answer as its been over 2 years when I had to find the missing disk space =)

HP DVD740b

ok , try these alternative solutions

CD Burner XP (Freeware)

CloneCD (Trial Version)

also what are you trying to burn ?

eg. If you're trying to burn a DVD movie you may find that some have copy protection on them and will fail to burn.

Try DVD Shrink

goodluck trying this.

Thanks

Hard Drive is Full

Check the settings on your Sonic Record Now. I think you have it set to copy data to your hard drive, look for this in the options menu. You should clean out all temp files too in case it is storing them there from the DVD sessions.
