How to fix a 47inch lg smart tv that only has sound and a blue screen

You didn't give the model number, some have separate boards for signal processing, that would be the board that is bad in this case. If there's only 2 boards, it's the bigger one that has problems. Get the model off the tv, and the numbers off the board and type them into your favorite search engine

Samsung led TV model UN40H6203AF no picture no sound no backlights. Flashlight test shows letters on screen after pressing menu button. Standby light blinks 5 times after turning on.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Laptop connected to projector get initial message "no signal" then projector continually searches through video, computer 1 and computer 2 - what do I do?

Make sure that you have enabled the 2nd screen output from the laptop. It sounds like there is no signal at the input of the projector. You can check this by connecting a monitor to the 2nd output of the laptop. Often you have to press one of the function keys (F5 possibly) to enable the 2nd screen from a laptop.
