Question about Brother XL-3030 Electronic Sewing Machine
I've rethreaded the machine, tried different thread, different fabric, and a different stitch. Nothing has helped. I also adjusted the bobbin tension slightly which didn't help- but maybe I didn't do it enough.. I've had problems with the tension before and didn't want to mess with it too much in case I couldn't get it back where it needs to be. Is this machine just getting too old? It's probably close to 12-15 years.
Have you made sure that your bobbin thread is going into the case going back on itself rather than threading directly into the bobbin case slit. This creates tension. Also check the thread take up as you hand wind the fly wheel. If the tp and bottom threads are not catching each other from the bobbin hook then it could be that the timing has gone out of sync. If you can get hold of a Readers Digest sewing book there are good operational drawings of how the bobbin and needle coordinate.

SOURCE: I have a Brother SE-270D
its the problem of the timing belt in your machine its extra loosen or extra tightned or is slightly came out of its position or finally broken.
as the machine is proper just missing the proper speed as it should be .
it is running continuosly as you stated.
check the timing belt and make it proper if its worn out and needs replacement this is how its done
There is an adjusting screw on the right side of the machine head. Follow the motor bracket to the machine head and loosen that big old screw or bolt which will raise or lower the motor giving you slack to remove or replace the belt.
feel free for further queries

I have a Brother CE 4000 Computer sewing machine. I had the same problem when I first used it. I worked with it several hours but to no avail so I decided to stop and wait until my head clear..
I went back a couple of days later. Reread the manual and started over. I discovered my problem was that I was threading the bobbin wrong. Once I threaded it precisely as the manual stated it worked fine.
So this might be your problem. Make sure that the thread on the bobbin is wind on properly. It should be wound evenly. The bobbin must be threaded precisely as the manual says.
Try rethreading the bobbin and the machine
and see if that help.

There has to be a problem in your threading or your needle. You may have the needle inserted backwards, flat side has to face rear or the needle is bent. Totally unthread your machine and make sure that there are no tangles and that it feeding the right way. Watch how they show your for threading and winding the bobbin, plus threading the bobbin. Good luck, but I truly think it is in your threading.
