SOURCE: 87 chevy nova loose steering

Sounds like the steering box adjustment is loose. With a 9/16 box-end wrench and big screwdriver, look for the adjustment screw on top of the box. With the steering unlocked, turn in the adjusting screw, watch the movement between the steering shaft and the pitman arm down below. Take out most(not all) of the free play when you move the steering wheel back & forth.
When you're done, start the car and turn the wheel all the way left & all the way right, check for noise or lock-up.

SOURCE: Steering tight then loose

Could be a restriction in the power steering system where the pump is working part-time.

What is a CV joint?

A wobble in the steering is more likely to be one of

- loose wheel nuts
- loose hub nut
- worn steering tie rod outer joint
- worn steering tie rod inner joint
- loose steering rod universal
- worn steering knuckle ball joint

Out of these a worn or loose steering tie rod joint is most likely. If you can, jack the front of the car up and rest it on axle stands, NOT just on the jack, then have one person shake the front wheel back and forth while holding it at 9 and 3 o'clock, while another holds the steering wheel still. Then look at and feel each joint to see if you can locate the looseness.

Steering wheel feels loose. Took to garage, had

This sounds like you need new track rod ends, this would cause free play in the steering, also it could be the bottom suspension arms. the garage should have checked these though! if the wheel is vibrateing then it may need the wheels rebalanced. if it is that you steering will shake at 60mph

that's a common problem with these trucks i have a guy i work with that has that noise i think he said that there is a u-joint in the steering column that makes the noise and that it can be greased but i've never seen it turn into anything serious just an aggrivating noise.

I have a 2003 chevy silverado and i've noticed when i turn corners like a weird feeling in the steering wheel like something is loose or clicking, my front end needs alignment but i don't know if that...

This is caused by the steering intermediate shaft being loose. GM has had several problems with these on several different models. Replace this and it will feel like a new truck again. P.S. this will not affect your front end alignment so you can have your truck aligned before or after replacing the steering intermediate shaft.

87 chevy nova loose steering

Sound like it needs some steering parts, you need to jack it up and check the state of the steering components, if you have that much play in the steering wheel you could be flirting with disaster if you don't deal with it soon. If you are unsure of what to check , get it into the shop.
otherwise you need to check the steering box, tie rod ends, idler and pitman arms, ball joints etc.

Hope this is of some help.
