Question about Polaroid FLM-3734B 37 in. LCD HDTV
When I change my tv's input to HDTV, there's no picture nor sound anymore; just this loud crackling noise that comes from the speakers. The noise gets louder the more I switch the input to HDTV. my other inputs are fine.

SOURCE: polaroid lcd hdtv 27" buzzzz
thre are several components that can make a buzzing sound, especially a bad power component or capacitor. check the capacitors to make sure they are installed in the board correctly. the stripe on the cap must line up with the white mark on the board under it. remove the back panel lay the tv down on a blanket turn it on and see if you can isolate the noise component by ear up close. and visually check for swollen capacitors the top will be pushed up round if bad if good it will be flat on top. warning if tv is less than a year old make the place you bought it replace it. so you dont void the warranty.

SOURCE: Polaroid tv problem
The most likely the TV has a power supply related problem.
I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, you can purchase a Service Manual over the internet and diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

This might sound like a silly question but is the VGA input the one you wish to use?
If you are trying to use the VGA input what do you have it connected too?
A) Laptop 2nd VGA output.
B) Desktop VGA output.
NOTE: If you trying to connect it to a laptop you may have to engage your 2nd VGA output by depressing the 'Function Key' and either F4 or Some times it's the F8 key at the same time.

You can get service manual here: http://www.polaroidsupport.com/polaroid/en_us-sm.html
Look for standby 5vdc power supply, you must have this first before looking for anything else.
