Replaced ink and it still say low ink. Pressed ok, turned off and on and it doesnt clear

Error code 1688, I replaced the ink cartridge it still reads the code. pressed ok, it just sounds, it doesn't clear code. turned the printer off and on. No success...

Hi On the canon website has the solution for this at this link http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=SuprtKnowledgeBaseAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=11010 It says you have to disconnect usb cable and power adapter for about 5 minutes to clear the memory and then plug it up back again. Also, make sure ink cartridge is seated properly. Good Luck

I added my post today with the same problem, and thought I'd share what I since learned. Apparently this "Alarm light/U150" is common with several Canon models. The U150 indicates a faulty electronic chip (on the ink cartridge). Though I tried cleaning the sensor with isopropyl alcohol, and also tried removing all the cartridges, unplugging the printer for 45 seconds, then reconnecting,etc. as I had read might help, I still had the same frustrating problem. Contacting Canon was the solution that worked for me. First I emailed, but decided I didn't want to wait for their response. A call to Canon Tech Support (1-800-385-2155) was quick and painless. They will more than likely send you a new cartridge, but you'll need to have your serial # & date of purchase handy.

Don't use refill cartridges, because it will damage your printer someday. and will cost your parts as brand new. so better use the original ink.

TRY THIS STEPS...
Mp150 Reset Counter
Service mode operation procedures -
1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the LED lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button the specified number of time(s) according to the
function listed in the table below.(Each time the Stop/Reset button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in
orange and green, starting with orange.)

Thanks, tried all the maintenance options including cleaning the rollers. What I have found worked very well was to bin the printer and purchase an HP model!

This error means waste ink counter is full.

Solution:
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Press resume

Are you using an aftermarket cartridge or one produced by Canon? I've had both success and failure with aftermarket cartridges. They are cheaper but sometimes that comes with a price: high failure rate. There might by plenty of ink in the cartridge but the chip in the front that the printer reads could have failed even though it's new. Try another black cartridge as a test. I just replaced the black ink in my printer and it is saying check ink 1688


Can I ask if the printer cartridge is genuine? A lot of Printers have terminals which make contact with the cartridge and it can tell if the cartridge is genuine or not. If its a non-genuine cartridge your printer is not recognising that the cartridge has been changed and still thinks levels are low. If its a refill it will void your warranty. Best to buy a genuine, if it is new and genuine take it back to the shop you brought it from maybe take your printer so they can have the problem of resolving the printer error... If they cannot fix it get your money back and try another store.

Low ink message


There isn't a reset button, just agree with the printer and push the "OK" or Cancel button, and keep on printing. Long story made short, most ink cartridges come with pre-stamped ink levels or expiration date, that you or I can't change. That the price you pay for superior tech and why ink cost so much. 24:10 code error


The system error 24:10 is a critical error in which the printer cannot be used until has been corrected.

Turn the printer on in Diagnostic Mode. Turn On the printer holding down Power + Cancel + DOWN buttons until you hear one beep before releasing ALL three keys.
Note:This could take few attempts to find correct timing on holding the buttons down, remember to hold the down key and cancel key and then hold the power button key so all 3 buttons are pressed until bleep at 5 seconds then release. Each attempt you have to wait for boot up to see if it powers up to the below diagnostics menu.

Scroll down to "Service Special Utilities" and select OK

Scroll down to "Bag Broken Recovery" and press OK to start the process.
Note: This procedure will only help if problem is just with a ink carriage just been fitted in the last 6 hours.


The front panel will display a series of questions which you answer Yes or No depending on the status of the printer. Use the Up and Down arrow keys to select Yes/No and the OK key to confirm the selection in each case.
Remove the Ink Cartridges and check for any ink leaking from the cartridge. In extreme cases ink
can contaminate the ISS PCA area which will then require instalIing a new ISS PCA.
If the message 'Please replace one of the defective cartridges (*). The asterisk represents a
number which will identify the failed ink cartridge.

  • Question 1:'Are the Tubes from the Air Pressure System (APS) to Ink Supply System (ISS) Clean?' YESIf the tubes are clean of ink select the Yesoption. However if the tubes have sections of tubing that have ink in them, select the Nooption and replace the Tube assembly.

  • Question 2: 'Do tubes from the ISS to Carriage contain visible air?' NOIf the tubes between the ISS and the Carriage Assembly do not have air bubbles, or clear sections of ink tubes where air is present mixed with ink, select the No option. However if you can see air in them, select the Yes option and replace the SRK assembly.

  • Question 3: 'Do you want to remove the broken bag condition?' YES At this question select the Yes option to clear the broken bag error.


To finish the procedure select any key on the Front Panel and the printer will shut down.


Insert the new Ink Cartridges into the printer and turn On the printer.


Note: If the Tube assembly needs to be replaced, the Broken Bag Recovery procedure will still need to be performed after they have been replaced.

you cant refill this cartridge you need to buy new one and replace to old cartridge

I have an hp deskjet 940c. I don't know if this is the same model as deskjet inkjet. Anyway what light is on or off on the front when a new ink cartridge(s) is needed?


For the HP 940c, there is only one light to indicate a possible low ink cartridge. The LED above the cartridge symbol (the only one without a button) will flash. (Note: this LED is the second from the left.) When you see the error code, open the printer's top cover. If the error is a low ink issue, the LED will stop blinking.

With the cover open, the cartridge carrier will move until the yellow arrow lines up with an icon on the printer itself. These five icons are in order from left to right (as you look at the cartridges) : tri-color ink cartridge problem, black ink cartridge problem, tri-color ink low, black ink low and cartridges OK. If both cartridges are low, replace the one indicated by the arrow. Then the cartridge carrier will move to indicate the other cartridge is low. (If only one has a problem, after you replace it, the carrier will move to the cartridge OK symbol.)

If HP offers the full-feature software for your OS, then install the software. Use the HP Deskjet Toolbox to get exactly which cartridge needs to be replaced without needing to be ready to replace both (or to monitor your ink level (approximate ink level)).

Will not print. color ink cartridge light keeps


..."Open the ink supply andgently move the ink cartridges to the left. Then reach in to the rightside and you'll find a small (1/2 x 1 inch) sponge. Print cartridge error


try to take out the ink cartridge and check if there are any leaks inside. check also if there is still ink left in the cartridge. have the ink cartridge replace and the printer cleaned.

Overiding Empty Cartridge error for Dell A10 962


I would take out both cartridges and put them in again. Realign the printer and the error codes should remove themselves. Try turning the printer off and on before puting the cartridges in again. That may make a difference. You can let your computer know not to tell you when the ink is low too. Let me know how this work for you.
