Yes, you need to fit new brushes, if motor still does not go, then it is probably faulty.

SOURCE: WHDSR315DDWW, Fills then just sits there and hums.

Push down on the agitator. You may have to hold the activating button in with the lid up so you can do this. Press down firmly on the agitator and it should start rotating. If it does, you need to have it replaced. If it doesn't, then let the store know and they should take care of it. You should not put any money into since it is new. Anything you do from this point will cost you some money to fix.

SOURCE: Washer won't spin

Check the washer motor. Make sure that the motor is getting correct voltage and is working and spinning when you turn it on. It sounds like the motor is bad. You can remove the back cover to get to the motor to check it out

SOURCE: washer won't fill with water

A water level switch regulates the washer's fill volumn. The switch is usually a diaphragm like device with a small clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. It works on water pressure on the air in the tube. The switch can be tested using an ohm meter or multimeter. The switch should have continuity. If not, it is defective and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps and best wishes.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Classic symptom of the starter capacitor- did you replace it before replacing the motor?

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Washer turns on, fills with water, then will not run, only makes a humming sound when cycle should be starting.

The electric motor of the washer has a capacitor which adds a temporary extra phase to start the motor. If this part is in bad condition the motor will not start, tha´s why you should first check visually this capacitor because when it gets burnt it is easy to see as some molten plastic gets out of the aluminum or plastic can in which the capacitor is kept. Then you get it out and buy a new one of the same settings(it is writen on it).Put the new one back in place and start the washer again.

Makes electrical humming noise but does not pump water

This is could be the capacitor that has failed. The capacitor gives the motor the initial kick in the right direction to get it started. You can confirm it is a failed capacitor and that the motor is still ok by flicking the fan blades with a stick in the direction it should spin just as you switch the pump on. The pump should run normally. You can get them off Amazon or ebay for around 5 Pounds (GBP)

Leaks when filling

It could be a swollen impeller inside the pump causing it to wear a hole in the plastic housing and making the humming noise .It,s fairley easy to replace as it clips on to the end of the motor.Hope this helps.

Kenmore dryer stop working after a lightening storm. checked breakers appears ok, but when you push start switch after setting timer i hear humming noise coming from timer but dryer will not come on.

It is very possible the humming is not comming from the timer, but the motor. check the capacitor on the motor. it should be a 5 or 8 microfarad cap .replace it. Dont try and run motor like that anymore untill it is checked.

Washer Won't Fill, New fill Valve, makes humming noise

Check your water level switch it may be showing full. If it is it won't fill. If you can set it on spin and run for 2 or 3 min. it might clear the hose from the tub to the switch in case there is too much water in it. Or you could pull the hose off the switch and blow in it to be sure it is clear. Sometime if it gets too much in it it builds up too much pressure and shows full.
