Note: Be sure to connect the Remote Turn-On from the Sony Xplod (Blue/White) to the Amplifier's Remote Terminal. All that's left is to connect the 12-volt power wire to the Amplifier's Power Terminal and a Ground wire to the Amplifier's Ground Terminal. Also, switch the FAI-3A to Line Out using the switch on the left side of the device, and ground the FAI-3A using the device's ground wire.

If you need any more help, let me know.

I want to connect my stereo to the tv to work like a sound system. What plug on the to do I have to use

You will need a cable with red and white RCA plugs at both ends. Audio out from the TV Red And White jacks on the rear or side of TV to red and white AUX jacks on your stereo Most older flat panel TV's have the red and white audio out RCA jacks **NOTE Newer flat screens like Samsung Smart TV only have digital sound output, or HDMI and if your stereo doesn't have an optical sound input. You can buy a digital to analog adapter at Best Buy or Wallmart. Hope this helps!

Its all about the quality of the converter in the Headphone unit.

If the quality is lower than the quality of the converter in the receiver, then using the head jack is a better idea. Since there is more room, power, and money going into the receiver, it may be better

I do not believe that there is a cheap way to connect to the headphone with optical audio

The only way to be sure though, is to test it and see. Connect your computer to the receiver with HDMI, play audio through, and compare it to when you just connect your computer to the headphones, via optical audio

Sony stereo mhc-gx9900 audio doesnt come out of speaker thou all lights show its playing

There is a intermittent problem on the main board, or the headphone jack is dirty or worn contacts, buy electronic cleaner, spray into headphone jack or earphone jack, slide headphone jack in and out as you spray the contact cleaner, do this several times in a attempt to restore audio.

Trying to connect laptop and getting a hissing noise.

You have not told us how you are attempting to connect the laptop. You would likely use a 1/8 stereo to RCA Wye cable to plug into the CD input jacks. You could also have a 1/8 Wye stereo to 1/4 inch jacks and use two of your input channels. The computer and the mixer need to be powered from the same receptacle. The sound boards in laptops sometimes are noisy. If the above doesn't fix it, buy a computer audio interface such as a UA25EX or others. Some are available for about $70 that use a computer USB port and generate decent clean audio.

Aux jack over time seems to be faultering.

sounds like the soldering points on the jack are coming loose or shorted out. The stereo will have to be taken apart and checked out. You will most likely need a soldering iron to repair the problem

Question about a Shelf Stereo System

You can use any analog Audio input out of 3 at rear of this system to listen laptop sound. Audio Cord is required to hook up and its look like red-white RCA pins at one end and other end is like headphone stereo jack for laptop. Audio Cord is available at Sony Part Center.
Hope above info will help you.

GARMIN NUVI 350

HI Heather,

Make sure you don't have the sound muted. Have you tried plugging in a set of headphones into the headphone jack? If you can hear sound with the headphones, most likely, the internal speakers have failed. If you still can't hear any sound, the audio output stage on the motherboard has failed. In either case, you will need to send the unit back for repair. Be sure to have your serial number handy. Register it online https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/marketing/register.htm
if you haven't already done so.

More Info: If you can hear sound through the speakers and don't want to send the unit back for repair, you can buy a FM transmitter at Best Buy - the kind that will allow you to play a portable CD player through your car stereo. Just plug the transmitter's audio input cable into your GPS headphone jack, power the transmitter with your car lighter jack, set the transmitter frequency to a unsued FM channel and tune your car stereo to tha same channel. You should hear your GPS through your FM stereo.

Good Luck,
- Jim
