TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and hold the 2ND key. Press and hold the + key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible. If this doesn't do it, please reply to this post and we'll go on from there.
Hi, Inverter is inside the LCD Screen. Mostly at the bottom in the middle. To locate the Invertor, you have to take apart the LCD Screen by removing the LCD Frame, removing rubber pads & screws (depending upon the Model of notebook you have). Moreover, the cause of dim/ dark display could be the faulty lamp. So, I recommend that you check both the Inverter and Lamp. Another likely cause is a bad connection of power from motherboard to the LCD. So first check the connectors/ wires for any damage before proceeding to replace Inverter of lamp. For your convenience and idea about LCD Display, I have found a general link about CCFL replacement. Click here for detailed and graphical DIY instructions about LCD disassembly. Make sure you take proper precaution while working inside LCD, as the inverter generates a very high voltage.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH
The 4 most common problems with dim lcd's on a laptop are boken screens, bad power inverter, bad florescent bulbs or a broken cable.
You can test the power inverter with a meter.
There should be 2 bulbs. If your screen is dim and your inverter is good and you can still make out what is on the screen, you probably have a bad bulb. If you can't determine which bulb is bad you'll have to replace both.
In my opinion, the easiest way to handle this is to replace the whole screen. Yes, it's more exspensive, but consider that it is most likely to fix your problem. A replacement screen comes with the power inverter, both bulbs, and the cable; already assembled and ready to install.
Since the screen is dim, the display's inverter board needs to be replaced.
If you were experiencing discoloration in the screen (pinkish lower light hues) before it failed, that would indicate a CCFL backlight issue. If the screen suddenly went dim on you rather than a slow degradation, the inverter would be indicated.
try this press and hold Fn then tap on arrow up key check if the display will become bright. if fails try connecting an external monitor to your laptop check if display is fine. if not then uninstall video driver then install a latest one. if fails replace the video card drive or motherboard if video is built-in. if display is fine from the external monitor then reseat the LCD cable if fails then replace the LCD panel with the LCD cable.
Hi,
Generally in such cases , the screen is always at fault. The LCD lamp goes out and thats the reason the screen is dim. If the system is still under warranty get the same replaced.
The other thing you can do is to Reseat the LCD cable to the motherboard. if the same is not connected properly it can result in the same scenario.
A very dim screen is an indicator that the screen inverter or the screen itself is going out. Start by checking the screen connections, they sometimes work loose. If the connections are good, then it's the inverter or screen and will need to be replaced.
