SOURCE: How can I get the fax and copy to print clearly?

Still sounds like a bad ink cartridge, try cleaning the bottom of the cartridge with a Kleenex and soapy water. Dry it off real good.

Look where the cartridge sits and clean the same way.

Ink jets are dead technology.

Yes , if the fax machine says low ink or toner , then it needs it alos check the drum corona wire, It may need cleaning, and you can clean it using a #2 lead pencil eraser, Gently in the wire, then replace wire and try receiving a fax.

Though the ink level it said was "6 / 8", when I removed the cartridge to examine it looked bone dry empty to me. I replaced the ink cartridge. It works fine, and reports the ink level as "8 / 8".

Printing works but, paper comes out with faded picture. Ink cart. is new. I have a HP Deskjet D4100series disk???

Sometimes it takes more than a couple tries to get the right settings the first time you put in a new ink cart. Try using the calibration setting for the printer under it's properties?

After being abroad for 3 months i can home to find printer not printing correctly i replaced the 5 ink cartridges but only 2 working Black and cyan

The ink has dried in the print head. If the print head comes out, remove it and apply rubbing alcohol or water with a paper towel to the nozels to disolve the ink. Once the ink seems to be fluid, replace the print head and ink cartridges, do a head cleaning and try printing again.

If the print head cannot be removed, get a childs medicine syringe, draw in some rubbing alcohol. Remove the non printing carts and apply a couple of small drops of alcohol to each ink port on the print head. apply some more drops to the ink port of the carts and replace and try a head cleaning and print.

If this does not work, continue to ask for help. The aim is to save the print head, not buy a new printer.

Just changed the ink cartridge and does not print

If it was working before you changed the cart make sure you removed any sealing tape on the new one. If you have then you likely have a bad cart.

While receiving a fax

Resolution for Lynne:
1. Unplug the power cable from the pwer strip and open the front door of the printer and move the carriage(in which the ink carts are connected) from the left to right and then back again for 2-3 times.
2. Plug in the pwer cabe and turn on the printer and print the h/w tets page.. if it prints fine, then try to, send and recieve a fax, If the carriage agains jams then replace the printer or serviec the printer.

Resolution For Stuart:
1. Th scrapping noise indicates that the ink carts are not inserted in the printer slot properly.
2. Pull the ink carts out and then push them back in and mak sure the printer should be on .
3. Clear the queue and then print the h/w test page, if prints fine then go ahead with fax.

Printer prints in color but has gaps

Have you tried a new colour cartridge? This is a classic sign that the cartridge may be low on ink. When printing text, assuming you are printing black, it is likely that the black cart is doing most of the work so the gaps are insignificant. You could try printing text in several different colours. If the colour cartridge is low, you'll find that some colours may be ok but others may have gaps.

Best to try a new cart if you have one.
