Your universal remote probably has a code search feature which you can use to find a code that will apply to your Thomson TV. If a search through all codes stored in the remote fails to work, you may have to try another universal remote.
Forget the PIN that you need is the WEP which should also be on the barcode label.
Does your Thomson have a round button on the front with what looks like transmitter symbol?
If so, try pressing that first before you start typing in the WEP code.
You can reset Thomson TG585 by pressing the reset button located at the
back of the modem for few seconds while the modem is power on. The LEDs
at the front would blink and the modem will restart with factory

First, try to unplug and reset. Second, Remove back cover and check for shorted horizontal output transistor with ohmmeter. If shorted replace flyback. Next, carefully disconnect plug connectors from deflection pcb. No need to disconnect h.v. or screen leads. Remove from plastic frame and look at bottom (solder side) for cracks around pins of flyback transformer. Resolder all pins. Last, look for two or three bulging capacitors in power supply on same board and replace. Any of these things can cause a dead set. Good luck, Russmann.
