Avaya 6408D+ caller id suddenly not working

I was out sick yesterday and the supervisor messed with my phone to forward calls to the front desk (instead of calling me to get the easy fix, he apparently kept pressing buttons until he found what he wanted). Now, my Caller ID doesn't work. I've gone through the menu options to no avail, and I've pressed Exit hoping it would magically work each time. My basic display now says "messages for (my name)" and if I dial a number, it doesn't show on the display anymore either. Any idea what I can do?

Some phones are not equiped to pick up call waiting caller id. check the box or look up your model number on the uniden site. The call waiting caller id only shows up on the phone that is in use at the time of the call.

Well if the phone has been bought abroad and being used in India you will face this problem. this is because of the format of transmitting the caller id info being different. In USA it is STF and in India it is DTMF. You need a convertor in the phone line which is DTMF to STF. IF you find onw in Delhi pl let me also know.

SOURCE: Talkswitch caller ID from outside calls not working

Log into your TalkSwitch Management Software.
Go to Telephone Lines.
Under each incoming line make sure that Caller ID is checked.
Click File> Save
Hopefully this will fix it for you.

Do you have access to Manager? You can tag the incoming call which does not show the caller ID of a call until the call is answered.

Hi is there a way I can check caller id on my phone


That is a feature sold by your local telephone company. It cost a few bucks to have it added to your telephone line, then your phone has to have the ability to display caller ID. if your phone does not have that ability, then you can buy a display device that plugs into your line and displays it, It will only display those callers that do not block their lines from being IDed.

I have a direct phone # coming into AVAYA Definity Switch. I do not have any display options. The phone is a 6408D+. I need to know how to forward incoming calls to a cell #.


It looks like you want to turn on Call Forwarding. If you don't have a call forward button programmed/labeled, then you need to know the FAC (Feature Access Code) to manually turn the feature on. If you don't have the FAC codes, then you need to log into the Avaya Definity to get them. You can find get excellent remote Aaya support @ http://www.avayaurgentsupport.com/ for only $3 a minute.

well.. we use a definity and i use site administration and on the station account its self i have a COR setup to restrict the phone from dialing out. if you want help and have the same system let me know.

Avaya problem with second line


You need to ask your local system administrator to enable this feature on phone switch. Looks like you are working with IP Office

Sounds like you have either send all calls (SAC) enabled or your station is call forwarded to voicemail.

Disabling send all calls or call forward (as applicable) will solve the problem.

Have your system admin movethe extensions ports. You have a definity or S87xx series.....that is the only way.

My caller i.d. quit working all of a sudden (yes, the electrical is plugged in)


The process is called ANI and from what I know, there is nothing you can do to shut it off. However there are a lot of phones that don't allow ANI to send the information for your caller ID to decode.

Caller ID not working


This is a Definity system phone. The phones themselves have nothing to do with caller ID, it's the system that handles it. The phone line has to have the caller ID service AND the phone system needs to collect the information and then display it on your phone. If you are sure caller ID service is available on the phone line you are using than this is a programming issue. Definity is a huge system and you cannot program it yourself. Someone in your building is either in charge of making simple changes in the phone system or contacting the company that makes these changes for you.
