Unfortunately, the memory on this particular net book is soldered directly onto the main board instead of the removable type so the RAM is not user upgradeable.

Remove thwe new RAM and hard drive. Does it boot to the BIOS menu? If yes, add the hard drive and do the same again then add RAM and do the same.
I suspect something does not fit in properly. Probably the RAM.
Don't forget to initialise the hard drive if trying to format it. The System disk should take care of that.

Do this model supporsts win xp service pack 2

Hi.

This unit has a Pentium 4 2GHz single core processor, and does support Windows XP SP2.

The standard memory installed on this unit was 256KB RAM, in order to run XP efficently you will need to upgrade the RAM. I suggest upgrading RAM to the maximum amount allowed of 2 GB RAM.

To upgrade the RAM to 2 GB you will need 2 modules of 1GB PC2100 184 pin DIMM ECC each.

I would like to add more memory and maybe a bigger hard drive.

that should be DDR1 and you may or may not be able to upgrade it depending on the motherboard. what i would recommend is having a professional put it in (computer tech place) so that if the board does not accept the ram, you arent stuck with ram that cant be used if you just by it yourself and try...if you do attempt a ram upgrade yourself, one thing to note with laptops. make sure its ocmpletely powered off and the adapter is unplugged and then remove the battery.

I would like to upgrade/add more ram, could you tell what is the

Is this an old PII machine? If it is, don't waste you money with memory and operating system. You can buy a used XP P4 or Centrino laptop for what you would spend upgrading what you have.

Upgrading my Ram

vista needs 40mb to install ...no matter how much mem you install vista is slow compared to xp or xp pro which configuered right can run at lightening speeds.
to upgrade mem ...
you either have 2 512mem cards or 1 1024 card ...if you have 1 1024 card add another if you have 2 512 replace with 2 1024.
you can buy mem cards in any pc shop.

Windows XP Upgrade

completely different operating systems actually... as far as i know that upgrade would not be possible... a full install would be the way to go... back up all your data first.

the beauty of 64 bit tho is it basically allows you to add unlimited memory to your computer.

This should work.

And just to add that your system specs are really old and you should think about upgrading. 128 mb ram upgradable to 2 gigs.

Integrated 4x agp graphics...you should be able to install a new agp graphics card.

Or you should buy a new computer if you dont know how to build your own which can be tricky and expensive if you cant reuse many parts.

Upgrade?

Generally you can add more RAM, However, there are too many details that are needed about your system in order determine if an upgrade can be done.

Suggest you call Gateway Support.
