Please clarify your issue. In the meantime here is the wiki on FAT32 formatting, it may hold the information you need:

Can i replace the harddisk of my samsung DVD HR750? do i need some additional files?

Hi, I just did exactly that.
Tried a lot of things and then hit on a workable solution.

Prerequisites: Old diskdrive is still working. (Let's assume you want to put in a larger disk, I did 160GB -> 200GB, but larger still should not be a problem.)
Take out the disk and connect it to a Linux PC (I used a cheap PATA-USB bridge).
Make sure it does not automount and somehow write to it.

Then check the MBR and you will see that it uses some sort of FAT16/32 Microsoft filesystem. In my case the first partition started at sector 32.

I copied the first sectors before the filesystem to the new disk using dd

dd if=/dev/sdd of=/dev/sde bs=512 count=32
(where sdd is the old disk and sde is the new)

Now the new bigger disk has the same partitioning as the old.
(I could also dd over the whole partition but that did not allow me to use more space on the bigger new disk)

Now plugging it back into the DVR leads to the machine sneakily doing this: Adjust the partitioning to use the whole space and format a new larger partition with its version of the FAT filesystem.

Done.
I have not figured out how to copy over the old films while still ending up with a larger disk.

The filesystem itself seems to be a modified FAT32 filesystem. Filesystem checkers show logical errors while the DVR box is fine with it.

It looks like it needs some magic from the first couple of sectors to do its thing and reformat the drive. (Turning it on it had a lot of disk activity and at some stage it turned itself off and on.)

Boot error and formating

Try formatting it in FAT 32 or FAT 16, the player sometimes can't read a different filesystem.
If that doesn't work, try upgrading the MP3 firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/)
Follow the steps carefully or you can render your player useless.
After the upgrade, the update program will format the player automatically with the correct filesystem.
