Question about Televison & Video
I have had 4 calls to Time Warner and one call to Emerson to program my new Emerson TV. Each call succeeded in programming it,,,, for about a half hour then returned to a blank screen, A technician is coming here between 9 and 10 this AM. Is it a faulty TV? Am I not following their instructions well? Are they baffled by this conundrum? Could you send me a step by step procedure on how to solve this problem? If the Tech is not able to solve it I am going to return it to the store.
Hi, why should you need to program an emerson its factory set. Thats why i buy with credit card, any problems the place is getting it back after 2 tries, there playing you or you dont know what your doing, leave it alone and have somone with you that has more expereince! If its under warranty put it in his truck and drive them both back to there junk shop! If you didnt buy with credit card next time, most cards back you up if you have problems. In this case it seems like your the problem, but i hope not, good luck, Frank

I don't know the model in particular, but most of these sets can be wall mounted if you have the screw holes for the mounting plate in the back of the set.
What I believe the tech was telling you would be that it is best to not wall mount the set. The reason is that we found that we have been seeing a higher failure rate from sets being wall mounted. This is because the surface of the wall reflects some heat back in the set, and thus causes it to internaly run warmer. This is also the same from running a set inside of a cabinet. The complete surface area behind the set being very close to the wall surface blocks cooler air circulation. It is best to run these sets on a stand that is out in the opened at least 1 foot away from any wall surface.

Your not alone with this problem.
I had to fix mine. The warranty is less than impressive.
The trouble is going to be the Power Supply/Backlight Inverter board.
This is the picture of yours:
This is board # BA71F0F01042. Replacement boards are hard to come by.
Fixing the board like I did seem to be the only option. If you need info on fixing it, let me know.

I had the same problem, so I followed these steps and it worked!
1) Turn on TV.
2) On the remote control, press TV once (it will blink once). Then press and hold SETUP until the TV key blinks twice.
3) Enter 9 9 1, (the TV key will blink twice).
4) Aim the remote control at the TV & press POWER once.
5) Press & release the CH+ key continously (you may need to press it more than 50 times!), then stop when the TV turns off.
6) Press POWER. The TV should turn on, then immediately, press SETUP to lock in the code.
